So I am going down to Southern Cali in august and my friend her baby and i are going to disneyland for at least a day maybe one more if time permits but i know we probably won't ride that many rides because she'll have an 8th month old and it really doesn't bug me. I just want to be there watching people and to be in disneyland.

I don't think it's odd! There are TONS of things to do in DL that do not include rides. I do love going on rides, but there are also lots of things I like to do without rides (my son, not so much, but he's 12 )

You will have plenty of rides that you can go on with a baby. Just not the thrill rides. I did WDW with an 11 month old and had lots to do.

I agree! I think you will have enough to do without riding too many rides.

You can just get a bunch of character photos, look around, ride the railroad, watch all the shows, etc. You'll probably discover a lot of things you never knew about Disneyland.

It's not odd at all to just want to be there and enjoy the atmosphere.

But like others have already said, there's still lots of rides, most of the rides actually, that you can do with a baby. I went when my youngest was 6 months old, and then again when he was a year old, and we rode a ton of rides and had a wonderful time. Plus, if I can ride my favorite, Pirates, then everything else is just a magical bonus.

No worries at all about getting on a lot of rides because you can always watch
shows and go to interactive areas for the baby like a bug's land and let the
baby have a blast. Parades are also great to see !!!

That is one cool baby! at 6 months of age, loving the pirates ride! I think that is great! because you know how some babies, and adults can be such whiners.
That is one of my most favorite rides too, Pirates of the Caribbean, if you decided to take the 8 month old on it, I don't think the babe will have a problem with it, but then of course I do not know the child, but if the baby is one tuff little dude like the other posters child, then it should be no problem. Just do not sit on the first seat in the boat, or the second one for that matter, just to be on the safe side, otherwise you all will receive quite the splash from the first and only drop into the water, it is pretty subtle to a degree, but just active enough, to where you will become damp.

I'm new here, but I just wanted to add that I just went June 18 with my kids to DL, ages 11, 7, 6, 4, and 8 months, and the baby went on several rides with no problems! I nursed him while we were on the Pirates of the Caribbean, even during the little drops with no probelms! Have fun!

I hear you!! It will be a nice change to not have to wait in lines if you don't want to There is SOOOO much to do even without rides!

If your friend has a happy baby there are a bunch of rides you can do! Everything in Fantasyland, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, BLAB, etc.

I've nursed my baby on Pirates too! And Peter Pan. And Snow White. And Haunted Mansion...BTW, not one Cast Member has ever so much as blinked--in my experience, Disneyland is very breastfeeding friendly!
You can take a baby onto any ride without a height restriction. For the rides with a height restriction, get a baby switch (rider switch?) pass from the Cast Member at the ride entrance. If it's just you and your friend with the baby, you'll each have to ride alone, but at least you'll get some "big kid" rides in!

I definitely don't think its odd. The first day I got my annual pass, I headed to the hub, grabbed a turkey leg and sat there for thirty minutes just watching people walk by.

Its amazing how many different types of people Disneyland attracts!

To be honest with you, the older my friends and I get, the fewer rides we make it on when we go to the park now, compared to what we used to do in our younger years. Of course, if we have been away from the park for ages, we will go on some stuff just to get a fix - and some rides we hit multiple times, like Pirates - and we will be sure to go on anything that is new to the park, but we don't make the same mad dash to get on a certain number of rides like we used to. I guess we kind of take them for granted - we just assume they will always be there and there is "always next time". Either that or we are just getting too old and impatient to stand in lines for these things now! It seems we pick a small handful of rides we like or that are new, and just go on those repeatedly in a three-day trip. We don't switch it up that much! In the old days, we used to try to hit every single ride in the park.

I think, as my friends and I started to get older (we are 40 now), we began to appreciate the WHOLE Disney experience, whereas when we were kids and teenagers and young adults, we were all about the rides. Don't get me wrong, I like to mix in some rides here and there, but I could technically spend a whole weekend just wandering around looking for all the Hidden Mickeys, pressed penny machines and in the SHOPS! We like to have nice meals at our favorite Disney restaurants and if we stay in one of the Disney hotels, we like to people-watch and soak in the ambience. I like to also learn little bits of lesser-known trivia about the parks and share it with people who have no clue - like the fact that ALL the plants in Tomorrowland are edible - fruit or vegetable-based. That stirred up something for us to do last year, as we strolled around trying to identify which fruit or vegetable each plant in Tomorrowland was!!

That is what I LOVE about Disney - as outrageously expensive as they are in every way, they take so much care and time to put in little surprises or special details that make the trip extra special and a well-rounded experience. If you spend your time in a line for a ride searching for Hidden Mickeys, it makes the time pass much faster than if you are simply just...standing in a line!

It's a really nice (Sorta epcot-ish) attraction.
