Nope, wouldn't chance it if you want to eat at any TS restaurants. I consider ADRs a "necessary evil" for WDW.
I wouldn't go on vacation without making a hotel reservation ahead of time -- just hoping to find some place to stay after I arrive. Can you imagine how much time you'd waste going around trying to find somewhere to stay? To me, it's the same with ADRs. A bit of advance planning is totally worth it. While I don't want to plan every minute of my vacation ahead of time (and hate to feel tied down to a specific schedule), I think ADRs make sense.
I say, make a few ADRs ahead of time (you can always cancel them if you change your mind!). You'll probably be really glad you made a few. Otherwise, you might be stuck with just CS restaurants.
