Is this fair?

Well, I felt I had to do a little vent regarding this topic, and, as usual, DIS Boards is the most comfortable place to post this kind of things, because you don't get others saying mean things at all.

Yesterday, one of the banned players who had the same exact problem I had had with the Everest Cars was unbanned and free of any charge VMK had placed on him, making him get rid of the ban and he wouldn't have to wait until the 20th. Some of us who were banned for the same exact reason this player was (if I have to mention, the unbanned player's case was the same, but if we had to even evaluate the most little details, his case was worse because he was actually trading his cars). Now, the reason of why weren't we unbanned is unknown, and to be frank, the Contact Us system is really useless at this point, because the first mail I sent to VMK regarding this hasn't been answered yet, sending another will be answered way after my ban, lol. So what do you think? I don't find any possible reason of why was this person unbanned and we are still banned! According to the player he "logged in and the message was gone!". And for all those who remember me saying I was quitting, you know how VMK is, you just can't leave it because yes, it has to take more than a 30-day ban.
And well, you can imagine the mood I am in at this moment..

i think that that is a bunch of crap! i think you should send in like 50 messages to vmk, letting them know that the exact thing happened to you and you are still banned. i am really sorry for this!

Its absolutely not fair. If they committed the same thing as you, they should get the punishment you got. Just like court, somebody litters, gets 50$ fine, a celebrity litters, get 0$ fine. I think that's unfair too. Pay the price people. Sorry to hear the news about this story. I rest my case

There was a case on the Fan site where someone was banned for life and people started to complain and about a week later she was back. VMK lifted the ban.

Popularity should not play a part in this and when VMK says something they should either have a FAIR forum for disputing it or don't do it at all.

If that other person did exactly what you did and had his ban lifted I would be hot but honestly, what can be done about it?

VMK does not seem to be very customer service friendly in dealing with problems and if you are banned it is like you are a second class citizen so they probably ignore most contacts.

You can file the whole thing under the "life isn't fair" file and go on with your life, wait for the 20th and just try to pretend the whole thing never happened. Otherwise it will make you crazy.

I personally think that the banning system of VMK need a LOT of improvement. It seems like the ban the wrong people all the time and then look away from the ones that cheat constantly.

I think you should send VMK everything you just said. Anyway, you are exactly right about the "Contact Us" system, i was banned once for a day for no apparent reason and i sent a message to them. Two weeks later(I checked everyday for a message from VMK), i finally received a message saying:"You have been cleared of all charges, we are sorry for any incoveince." Is that all??! I'd been banned unfairly for a day and two weeks later I get an apology. Can I at least get something else? VMK, let Kaironzet, and all the others unfairly banned, be free! Look on the bright side , wait a second... there isn't one.

I was on the fan site the night this whole thing unfolded so i believe i know who you mean. I was shocked that someone was trading them and your right that is worse than the others involved, but thats a debate for another time.

You are 100% correct tho that all should be treated in the same manner. If 1 ban comes up early than all should have. There has to be an over sight here or someone at vmk who can make the decision was mis informed.

I totally agree. If someone that did the same thing had the ban lifted then all peeps involved in the same thing should have thirs bans lifted as well.VMK is always talking about VMK values and such, well equal treatment of all players should be a VMK value!

Sending a message through contact us nowadays, it's like doing nothing. On the screen it says I should get an answer within 24 hours, but those 24 are forever. The first message I sent under contact us about my ban was like 2 weeks ago, and I haven't got a reply yet. If I bother to send them a Contact Us message at this moment, I'd probably get the response after my ban ends the 20th.

totally agree with you Lisa they really need to do their research before banning people especially when a scam is invloved to many that were on the receiving end of a scam have been banned and that needs looking into.

Also you should get a series of warnings for most infractions before a permanent ban is done.

That is not to say that immediate bans for certain offenses be done away with not at all.

First off, Heya, Karo! I hope all is well with you, my friend! We really do miss you..

Now, as for the ban...I agree 100% with Mal. There should be NO bans until research is done on each case. There should also be a more uniform system as far as length of bans goes. I've heard of people getting a 24 hour ban for the same thing someone else did to get a 30 day ban. It's not right and should be changed. I also feel that everyone should have an opportunity to plead his/her case. Maybe something was taken out of context, for instance. But, I don't work for Disney or Sulake. So, my opinion means diddly-squat.

I hope that when your ban is lifted, you can talk to some of your friends on VMK and get things straightened out. There may even be a chance at regaining your CL title. And don't forget to stop by and say hey! It will be so good to see you again!

I totally agree that this isn't fair in any way. For 1 person to be brought back from their ban, yet the others still have to sit and wait isn't right at all. How is this looking to the younger people that play and for the "VMK Values". If you want and expect everyone to follow the values... how can u go and do something like this??? To let 1 person back isn't setting a good example for those that look up to u. Keep it equal and fair for all players!!!

It's not the ban he's fighting so much as the unfairness of it. There were more people involved in this same "infraction" of the VMK values. One got a 30 day ban, the other was cleared of his ban. This is what VMK needs to deal with and make right.

Thanks for clearing it up Greenmimi. And as you see, well I sort of got over the ban because I can understand why VMK banned me. It's either 1 of 2. Either they were fearing me to hack them, which is a kind of fear I would have if such thing happened to me, or my stupid thoughts of spreading an unreleased item were not well seen, so that is what I no longer mind, but the fact of having my ban not lifted while some other person, banned under the same charges as me, makes me want to vent, and to complain(as I already did, I sent a big message complaining, but well the screen that says I shall expect a reply within 24hs is not always right, as they take forever).

I've already sent 4 Messages to VMK regarding my ban and questioning them why this other player was unbanned, but got NO answer at all. This situation is starting to make me desperate, I would actually do whatever is needed to come back to VMK, I'm wanting to play it too much. Does anyone know something else apart from using the Help Tool to get an answer faster? I've been told that some people have actually called VMK to get their problems solved, but as you may realize, mom and dad would kill me if I called VMK, since it would be a long distance call. Anybody got an idea at all of what could I do?

Hey i just wanted to say that i agree that this is totally unfair! they really should fix this whole banning thing. i mean a two week ban while the other guy gets off easy. this does make me remember how i was unfairly banned on neopets.... anyway, i think vmk should put a special catagory under contact us that is labled "appeal ban". they have it on another game site i play on. it would help people give their own story to these bans because, as u already know, VMK never gets the whole story.
