Is this enough reason/pain to skip a training day?

I think I overdid it on one of my regular walks. On Saturday I was out for a 4.9 mile walk. About 1.5 miles into it I said to myself, "hey, I think I'll jog." So I did - for about 100 yards. This was my first time jogging since high school - 25 years ago.

That was it. I finished my walk like always. Next day, Sunday, I did my weekly long walk, 8 miles. I was sore when I woke up but just blamed it on Saturday's extra exertion. The soreness never really disappeared...just kinda became duller as I warmed up throught the LW.

All day Sunday afternoon and evening my right leg kept feeling tighter and tighter, from my butt to my calf. I'd feel stiff just rising from the lounge by the pool, getting off the couch during a movie, coming out of the car.

Now, today, at work in 1.5 inch heels, I'm actually limping. I'm debating whether I should do my short walk (4.9) Tuesday morning. I want to do it because once I get going, it doesn't hurt (much). OTOH, if this is an injury and not just a soreness (KWIM?), I could delay healing.

As a further complication, my WDW vacation starts on Saturday. I will TRY continue training during the trip, but I don't want to be boppin' around the parks with a bum leg, either.

Any words of wisdom? Should I skip Tuesday and resume on schedule Thursday? Or go Wednesday and Friday instead?

I'm only 10 weeks away from my first event: Baltimore Half Marathon, October 14.

Thanks,

I'd skip Tuesday. You rbody is telling you something. Maybe do some upper body XT if you are worried about skipping, but one day will not kill you. Just don't let it becomea habit, like I did for a while. ;)

Also, A soak in a cold tub does wonders. I'd try that today and tomorrow, at least. If you can't bear that, soak your legs in the pool for a half hour or so.

Since we have progressed from just "sire" to now limping, I say skip Tuesday for sure. Make the call on Wednesday based on how you feel.

By all means ice down whatever hurts.

Hope you feel better soon!

If it hurts--that is enough reason. Waiting until a "good enough" reason could prolong recovery or cause you to make yourself hurt worse or even actually cause an injury.
