I hope this isn't a stupid question. I really want to download series two of Lost, and I came across this webiste when I was searching google -

http://www.moviesdirectpro.com/

For $27.80 it says I can have unlimited access to downloads of "DVD Quality".

Will they really be DVD quality? If I "burn" them on to a DVD disc, will they be able to be played through a normal DVD player (with sorround sound)?

Thanks! :wizard:

I don't think it's a stupid question at all.

Unfortunately I don't know the answer, so i'm of no use to you.

The only thing I can say is, I thought that the only legal download site for Lost is the US Itunes site. And you can't burn CDs from the itunes downloads, so it makes me wonder that a site that permits you to burn CDs would be legal - that is, that it would have an agreement with ABC. I tend to doubt it.

But i don't know.

Looking at their FAQ, and also the fact that they have "xbox" etc at the top of their page, NO WAY is this legal....what they are offering is for you to pay for something you can get elsewhere for free.
Not only that, its also not DVD quality, heres what it says for movies : "On an average, with a cable/DSL or any other broadband connection it will usually take a few hours. Sometimes you can download one in under an hour depending on internet traffic and other factors. ". It takes just under 6 hours to download a full 4.37Gb dvd on a 2mbit connection, so an "under an hour" download suggests a divx conversion (which isnt necessary a bad thing, but it will be lower quality than a DVD)

The fact that it is dependant on internet traffic is alsoa cause for concern.

I think there are only 2 legal ways to download Lost, one being ITunes, and the other being tv.com . Unfortunately both offer vastly inferior quality to what is available for free if you were to take the "less than legal" path. Its fine if your happy with it, but once you sample a Dolby Digital 5.1 DIVX conversion from an HDTV source, played on an xbox running xbmc, connected by progressive scan, you wont settle for anything less !

The site itself is occupying a bit of a grey area but what it is offering is not legal IMO. Having read through their FAQ it looks like they are simply selling a download of a piece of file sharing software and offering the abilty to search for downloadable material within the members area :(

All of this is actually readily available on the internet for free and as such I personally would consider it a complete con!

Well said Alan, I am suspiscious of the way that most of the links go to a signup page, without any reference to what it actually does, or how much it costs!!:furious:

As an IT consultant, my advice is definately KEEP WELL AWAY

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I will just have to be patient and wait for the next series to start!
