We are thinking of a quick Labor Day weekend getaway. There are flights from our city to MCO for about $40 r/t pp, and I can snag a good deal at CSR off of Hotwire for those dates. We haven't been to DHS since any of the new Star Wars attractions were open, so that would be the main purpose. I would need to read up on getting boarding passes, etc. but will it be pretty doable to do everything in one day? It would be the Sunday of Labor Day. We have done quick weekend trips before for one day in a park, but it's been for MNSSHP or for Food & Wine, etc. where there hasn't been such urgency to be able to experience an attraction. Anyone else recently done this?

We went to hollywood studios for 1 day in July and the only main ride we did not go on was the new mickey & minnie railway. I suggest you read the rope drop and rise boarding group threads, there is a ton of good info in those posts. Since you want to experience the star wars rides, you may want to start there?
Before you book, make sure park reservations are open. Labor day weekend may have large crowds. But- I think hollywood stuidos is doable in 1 day.

I agree with PP that the most important question is whether there are park reservations still available for DHS that weekend. DHS tends to fill up first, and that's a busy weekend.

I think it will be busy and it will also be hot, potentially rainy, and at the peak of hurricane season. Contending with weather could put a real damper on your plans. Considering the cost of the trip with tickets and hotel, its probably not something I'd do for one unpredictable day that will no doubt be busy. If the weather cooperates, I do think its feasible to get most things done at DHS if you're able to make rope drop and obtain a ROTR boarding group. An Oga's Cantina reservation may be difficult to get at this point too.

Go for it! DHS is busy every day, I'm not convinced there is an appreciable difference on weekends. Do check for reservation availability first though.

But, I would totally do a one day trip for that kind of airfare. You can absolutely get everything done - get there early enough to be at MMRR early, then head back to explore Galaxy's Edge before it gets crowded.

Park reservations are open - the only days they’re currently limited in any park is the first couple days of October for the 50th.

My main concern would be what happens if you can’t get a boarding group for RotR -will you be okay with that, or would it be a huge disappointment? They’re not easy to get, so staking it all on one day is risky.
