I know my trip is a ways off, but DH and I were talking about little gifts to give teachers who work with us on taking the kids out of school. I thought about saving the mickey soaps etc, and making a small gift basket out of them. I would attach a card that said something like, for helping us enjoy out vacation, you deserve to treat yourself Mickey style. Directions: Lock the bathroom door, run a bath, and relax.

DH is wondering if it would be cheesey because the soaps are "free."

Well, it sounds kind of cute. They only supply basic soap and shampoo, though. No fun stuff like bubblebath. So, it really isn't gift basket type stuff.

The shampoo is far from luxurious. I seldom use it and bring something from home to use. Unless you added something from The Basin at DTD or something from the Confectionary Store at MK.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that, too. I HATE their shampoo and soap. I don't know what kind it is, but I don't like it at all. The shampoo leaves my hair dull and limp and the soap is very drying. We always bring our own. We do take the Disney stuff home because it is so cute, but it just sits in a basket in my bathroom for decoration.

I don't think it is a good idea. Lots of people know about the free soaps at WDW. It looks cheap.

The shampoo and soap at Disney is just plain nasty. I wouldn't think of giving it as a gift. Anyway how do you relax with soap and shampoo? We aren't talking soothing bath salts or anything. What I got DD's preschool teachers as an inexpensive gift were the windshield danglers. I don't know the real name but they are the Disney characters on a suction cup that you stick to the inside of the car windshied. They loved them! The best part is that they only cost around $5 each.

Thanks, to everyone who took the time and replied. I am going back to the "drawing board" for teacher gifts. i will save the soaps etc, to decorate my bathroom. I am happy though that the thought wasn't cheesey, just the products. I will be very happy to tell DH that.

You could put the tag on those: "Treat yourself, Mickey style"

We gave the collected Mickey soaps and shampoos to our kid's close friends, in bags from WDW (the ones we got shopping) with pencil and stickers.

One of our kid's teacher has one of the expandable charm bracelets - we purchased a charm for it...$6, maybe??

One of my students brought me back a pen from WDW and I loved it! Teachers go through pens like crazy so it was a practical gift and thoughtful as well.

Someone correct me, but I think you can get Disney Bubble Bath, etc, somewhere in WDW. And you could probably make a basket out of that sort of stuff, and have it much appreciated and not at all cheesey.

we always put our soap/shampoo away each night so housekeeping will set out more the next day. then we ship it off to boston to help the kids smile.

I think giving the teachers a gift is a good idea. However, I think giving gifts to some and not all may cause resentment.

I am sure World of Disney sells bubble bath but I don't think the OP was looking for something you pay for. She wanted something economical but cute. Giving just soaps and shampoos that are given free and are also awful is cheesey.

When we were there they had a Pin that said "#1 Teacher" We got one for DS's teacher. She loved it and wore it to school every day. Now he is in 2nd grade and we are going for 4 days next week. 2 of those days are school days. So we are going to look for a special gift for her.

Yes, maybe a little cheesey, but I think our wonderful teachers appreciate anything extra that they receive. Not everyone can afford a custom made gift basket, so if that is what you want to give, I think you should. Has anyone ever heard of...."It's the thought that counts?"

I think the suggestions about candy or goodies from Basin are good ideas. Basin has some really nice bath bombs, as well as a couple of nice smelling bath salts (black currant comes to mind... *yummy*).

When we went to WDW back in May, I stocked up on different bath bombs and salts for my friends, and picked up some different kinds of candy for my son's teacher and others.

The teacher pins are also great ideas, and they run about $6.50 each, if I remember correctly.

Yes the Basin is great! We got a lot of bath bombs for ourselves. DD loved the ones that had hidden mickeys in them. They were like wax confetti. Everything in Basin smelled wonderful. It is definitely pricier then FREE but well worth it!

LOL You should see how many bombs we've got in our basket by the tub! Since we're nowhere near Basin or Lush stores, we really stock up whenever we get the chance. There's nothing like soaking in the tub after the kids have gone to bed.
