I just booked a trip for our 1st anniversary in April and DH wants to wear our bride & groom mickey ear ballcaps. I told him we're not bride and groom anymore, but he didn't think it mattered. What do you guys think? Is it incredibly tacky? It was a ton of fun to wear them on our honeymoon! :confused3

I think it would be adorable. It would make you guys feel like newlyweds again since I'm sure a lot of people will congratulate you.

I say go for it and what a great idea. My DH actually loved his Mickey Bridal Top Hat and wore it for the whole two weeks were were down there and I wore my Minnie Bridal Ears.

I had purchased bride and groom hats, we our names on the back, and I put the ears on them and we never wore them.

We are heading down in February for our official "One Year Anniversary" 3 months late but we could not go down in November. Maybe I will bring these and get the Disney Anniversary Buttons and put them on the baseball hat. Thanks for the great idea.

Linda

There will be people who say you shouldn't. They're reasoning is that you'd be taking attention (and possible freebies) away from "real" brides and grooms.

I say go for it! There is enough in the world to worry about without fussing over whether your celebration justifies wearing hats!! Have fun, be romantic, and enjoy yourselves! :goodvibes

We have worn the "Happy Anniversary" buttons every time we go for our anniversary (nearly every year) and get tons and tons of congratulations and pixie dust. If you're not comfortable wearing the ears, then wear the buttons. They're free at the guest services desk. But, if you don't mind wearing the ears, then go for it. I think it's great that your DH wants to wear them!

It's amazing that your DH wants to wear them (just think of how many other's refuse to wear them before/after their actual wedding) and that you should take advantage of the opportunity.

We fall into this category - so don't feel guilty, just think your are taking our place instead :rotfl:

I don't see how it's any different from wearing the anniversary buttons. Same concept imho :goodvibes Wear 'em if you want.

Thanks guys! :grouphug: I have to admit, I kind of wanted to as well, but felt kind of guilty. My DH said thank you to all of you! He loved his hat when we went for our honeymoon. We bought ears, bride and groom ballcaps, removed the ears from the beanies and pop-riveted them to the ballcaps. My mom even attached a little veil to my hat. I got the idea from lurkyloo and got a ton of compliments while we were there. I can't wait for our trip!!!!

Wow, after reading all the encouragement here, I think we might now wear our ears again for our 1st anniversary - thanks for asking the question!

Good for you guys!

All the negative comments (not on here but on some of the other boards) always amuse me. It just seems so selfish to not want other people to celebrate because it might take something away from you personally. I think if you're going to Disney to get "freebies" then you're going for the wrong reason anyway.

I hope all those celebrating their anniversaries at Disney have a WONDERFUL time!!

I LOVED wearing my ears on our honeymoon last year. It was so much fun to get "congratulations" all day long! I wanted to wear them again when we went a few months later but thought it was way too late. We are going again for our anniversary and the thought didn't even cross my mind to wear my ears! Hmm....I'll have to think about this. DH will probably tell me I shouldn't wear them but if I can work an anniversary pin in there somewhere....

We made special anniversary ears for our first anniversary trip! :thumbsup2

These are awesome!!!! Did you take apart old ears to make them?

My hubby loved his groom ears! He probably would have been wearing a ballcap anyway, so these just got him a little bit more attention!

Lurkyloo, love the anniversary ears! I don't think I could get my hubby to make another set, but we might cheat and just cross out Bride and Groom and write Mr and Mrs with fabric markers or put the anniversary pin over the words. It'll mostly work! :rolleyes1

Carrie I loev those and am trying to convinc Df he should wear a hat like that. Was it hard to do?

Carrie, I showed my DH your ears and even he thought they were great! The only trouble with us is that I don't go by "Mrs." !! He told me "Ms." and "Mr." ears wouldn't have the same effect.

Yes - we bought the pink ear headband that Disneyland sells and just a basic hat, then got custom-embroidered ball caps. :)

those are amazing!!!

I need to make us a pair like that...then the hard part...convince DH he's wearing them :rotfl:

Um... what part of "free-dessert magnet" does he object to...? :rotfl:

That's a great idea! I almost did the pin-on-the-cap thing too - it would've been a lot easier!

Not if he likes free things! As OtherFigment mentioned, he's probably already gonna be wearing a baseball hat, right? So just explain to him that by wearing this one, he will become a magnet for extra rides, FastPasses, free desserts, and all the other goodies that Disney likes to give people who are celebrating! :thumbsup2

You know, I don't go by "Mrs." either (and I'm the type who makes sure everyone knows it!), but I was willing to set my convictions aside for our anniversary trip in the name of Getting Free Stuff. :rotfl2:
