Is this Attraction ever open?

loved COP on our first visit last sept. we noticed there was very little waiting and it was soooooo nice and cool in there, and we totally enjoyed its a great big beautifull tomorrow!
:thumbsup2

It's been open evertime we've gone to MK. Because it holds so many people, and due to the fact that it's perpetually loading and unloading, it never fills, but there's never a line.

It's a great ride full of history.

And one of the catchiest songs in the park.

"There's a great big beautiful tomorrow. . ."

This is stretching my memory a bit but, as I recall, it had been open since the beginning and was still running in 2001. Then it became seasonal for a couple of years. I tended to go in February and it was never open when I went within the first few years of the 2000nd's. Then Alien encounter was closed to make room for Stitch and they reopened CoP permanently, at least to this point.

Attendance is a problem that is caused by a number of problems. The first is that it wouldn't be possible for Disney to care less about this attraction so they do not spend a nickel promoting it and, Second, and biggest, is that the public, when they are aware of it's existence, have absolutely no appreciation of history and what made Disney great.

If it doesn't cause your heart to beat faster or to bring you to near puke conditions, it is looked upon as not worth it, boring or lame. The saddest thing is that this trend will likely continue until all the old, what made Disney great, attractions are in the landfill. They can never be revived because frankly no one has the imagination active enough to create a story within a theme park ride anymore. I think it is a lost skill and I doubt it will ever return.

Anyway, all that to say that it is open, at least for now and still appreciated by a dwindling number of people. BTW, I may be off on the actual years that all this happened but it did occur somewhat in that order and somewhat near that time. As a post note...I rode it in 2006, the theater was 3/4's full and there was cheering and applause at the end. A good sign, I hope! Word of mouth made it popular and that could happen again, but, it needs to be soon.

I so agree with you and I am not even a long time disney person. Some of the coolest rides at Disney have little to do with making you feel sick etc..

I was a little disapointed with the new nemo ride. The que is outstanding, but the ride was touted as seeing nemo in with real fish etc.. like you would be inside the tank etc.. I first imagined you would be in like one of those tunnels that run under water and you could look around and see the fish and nemo would be doing his thing in there.
The tank time is so little and the ride a little disapointing

I often ask myself why HM and rides like that are so cool that one is willing to do them over and over again. After all it is basically a "museum" and rather than walk thru you sit on something and ride thru, but the storyline is cool and far more reaching than just that.
Now if they could start doing that again
I think too, they make rides based on some lame characters or movies. Snow white is a timeless story, any age group can appreciate it, but some they do now are just like a fad rather than a timeless story

We rode it at the beg. of June. Someone mentioned that it looks closed even when open, and I have to agree with this. Buzz Lightyear meets and greets there, and we only knew it was open because DH saw people going in while we were waiting for Buzz. I didn't even see the sign for the ride, no one was in line, and the CMs were just standing there waiting for someone to show up.
If it looks closed, I would ask, especially if you see a CM nearby.

Hope I am not repeating (Just jumped into thread at the end).
Has anybody heard the rumer that they may be moving COP to Epcot? I can't remember where I heard that, but it was recently.

14 day until Disney:woohoo:

I love COP, too. We were at MK in June & it was the first time I've been able to see it in years-I was thrilled! Usually we only go to Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party so I miss out on this wonderful, nostalgic ride. I know it's not a big E-ticket but there's just something so simple and endearing about it.

And yes, that is one catchy song! Allthough I remember when the song was changed for awhile. I wonder what made disney do that.
