Is this allowed or is it "frowned upon?"

Those days may be gone forever. We tried parking at Poly for breakfast in March and were refused entry since we were not resort guests. We were directed to the Magic Kingdom parking and had to walk over to Poly.

If you can afford it, just valet. They'll let you in anywhere when you valet. LOL

We will be doing a non-park trip next week. Doing a cheap trip (since we had free airfare we had to use) and staying at ASMU in a family suite. First time for a non park trip and first time staying at a value ! :scared1:
Our oldest son and his girlfriend (just graduated) will be doing all the parks, but mom, dad and youngest son will be just taking it easy at Disney (is there really such a thing ???) and enjoying everything but the parks. We plan on visiting a bunch of resorts ( some we have been to many times and a few we have never been too), and doing some pool hopping (note : we are DVC members, and its allowed for members ) . Also planning on some mini-golf, eating, Downtown Disney, eating, Movies, eating , riding the monorail, eating, touring resorts, renting a pontoon boat in bay lake, and just enjoying some pool time with no pressure of park tickets "burning a hole" in our pockets ! Its going to be a great no-pressure week long trip to Disney .........we cant wait !!!:cool1:

Just one suggestion... We took the boats from DTD to PO just to look around. (We have AP's and Winter 20 min from wdw) It was around dinner time and the lines for the boats back to DTD were very long. I felt bad that most might be resort guests who were trying to get to dinner plans and I was taking up their spaces.

Decided next time we do this that it would be thoughtful if we avoided doing it during dinner hours. :)

A possible resort tour that lets you see as much as possible could be:

  • Park at downtown disney
  • Take a bus to the contemporary
  • Use the monorail to go from there to the poly and grand floridian.
  • Take the GF boat to the magic kingdom (with kids, I'd avoid the monorail to the MK as you see more of the park and it might be disappointing)
  • At the MK you can take a boat to the Wilderness lodge or Fort Wilderness (campground) and then a bus to Disney Studios, then a boat to the boardwalk area. Lastly pick up a bus at a boardwalk resort back to DTD.
  • Or, (if kids are OK with it) Monorail to Transportation and Ticket Center, transfer to Epcot monorail - this monorail makes a loop inside of Epcot, at Epcot pick up a bus back to DTD
  • Or, bus to Disney's Studio, boat around the boardwalk area and back to DHS, bus to Port Orleans resort, and boat to Downtown Disney

Shuttle, Ferry, or Monorail your way around. There are shops in the resorts too. Ride to your heart's content.

Technically, dvc members are only allowed to pool hop when staying on points and at a dvc resort.

Hmmm , it was my understanding that a DVC member staying at any WDW property while on points or a cash stay could pool hop . I was told that they changed the policy when they did the same policy change for the Top of the world Lounge (any DVC member could gain access to TOTWL when staying on points OR cash). :confused3

Oh well, not going to stress about it. Its probably somewhat of a grey area.

Thanks !
