Is this acceptable?

We will be celebrating my youngest's second brithday on our trip. I mentioned it for all of our ADR. I figure that one of them will mention it. I don't expect them all to, it just increases the odds that someone will recognize him. I also made him a "Wish me Happy Birthday" shirt that he will wear on his actual birthday.

Have a wonderful trip! I hope you get lots of disney magic!

When we went to MK last year for my niece's 7th bday (we only were able to go 1 day to 1 park) we went to City Hall (Guest Relations) once we got in and told them it was her b-day (which it was a few days off but that was only because those were the days we were able to go) they gave her a pin to wear. The only freebies she got was lots of attention from the CM's (which I don't see anything wrong with especially since it made her feel so "special") Two of the most memorable moments were when the Barber Shop Quartet sang Happy Birthday to her and when we were in Frontierland the travelling band sang her Happy Birthday as well.

Make sure you get your DS a button at Guest Relations and he will be showered with birthday wishes!! I am sure he will remember it!!

FLAME AWAY, I really don't care. We leave on DS birthday. I had a t-shirt made at the online Disney store that says "celebrating my 6th birthday at the happiest place on earth" and we will also pick up a button on our way to HDDR. I have also noted it in on every dinner reservation that week and will collect as many buttons as they have. I expect to receive NOTHING. A little extra attention from the CMs and/or characters will make his Disney experience priceless.

Do I feel bad about this? No. Do I feel like I am cheating the system somehow? No. Am I telling my DS to say it's his birthday everyday? No. There aren't too many places where you can truly celebrate your birthday for a week and Disney is definitely one of them. So I say go for it and if you happen to see a little boy smiling from ear to ear with a birthday button feel free to say Happy Birthday
:cheer2:

Next year my DP and I will be celebrating our 20-year anniversary and we certainly expect to be celebrating it ALL WEEK long. While we won't make a big deal out of every time we sit down to eat :) we will celebrate more than once. Of course, we're not looking for anything special, except that CM join in on our shared experience when they deliver the special cake I'm going to order! :Pinkbounc

My DD wore the button the entire time we were there. Some people can't go on the actual day. So doing it sometime around the birthday to me is no big deal, our birthday parties for our kids are rarely on their actual birthday.

She enjoyed wearing the button, she got a lot of well wishes. Some of the characters sang Happy Birthday to her and that really made her day. :goodvibes

Have fun and don't worry!

When we took our DS in 1998 to celebrate his 5th bday...the cm that booked the trip for me told me to tell them everywhere went all week long that it was is bday. We did if for a couple of days and then he got shy about it. Now we are taking our DD for her 5th Bday(feel sorry for my middle son, we couldnt go when he turned 5) and we have 2 seperate meals planned to celebrate her day.

I have 3 ds ages 9, 7 and 2 who have birthdays within 7 weeks of each other. They all want to be able to celebrate their birthday at the world and I don't think it is fair to only celebrate the middle sons birthday there so I am making T-shirts for all of us (thanks Nickandjulia's mom) that say Brooks Brothers Birthday Blowout at Walt Disney World. I will also let them get the pins at each park and they can each choose I day to celebrate their own birthday. I don't expect special treatment, but this is how they want to celebrate. They don't even care if they get a party at home. I do not feel bad and will not be mad if no one even wishes them a happy birthday. It is for us to celebrate.

We did if for a couple of days and then he got shy about it.

This exactly what I think will happen with my DS. I think he will like it for a little bit then he'll probably want his anonymity :rotfl2:

But until that happens, he'll wear his button and we'll go about our day with or without well wishes.

Wow..I feel SO much better after reading this thread. My DD will turn the big 16 while we are there in October. I had also planned on having her wear the birthday buttons every day and making it a birthday WEEK. How many girls get to celebrate their 16th birthday spending a week at WDW?? Anyway, what I relief when I saw this thread...thanks guys!! :flower:

JMTC-
Wow, I can't believe anyone would flame over something like this. :(

So what's wrong with kids getting a little extra attention for the whole week of their birthday? It's not like it will be taking anything away from any of the other guests.

I think every day at WDW is a reason to celebrate, I mean, while it may be someone's birthday on any particular day, it's everyone else's unbirthday too! :D
And Disney mentality says that unbirthday's are a cause for celebration as well. :)

Thanks everyone. I feel much better about this now. I'm sure this will be a birthday that my DS will never forget.

A very Merry Unbirthday to you all!! :wizard:
