It looks like it!:thumbsup2 But usually they're darker brown with black banding. Sometimes they are all black, all brown, or even all white.

I haven't seen any yet this year, but yours is predicting a mild winter. The less black there is, the milder the winter. Let's hope he's right!

It does look like one but I have never seen one that was all one color maybe because I live in the northeast? :confused3

Isn't that just a regular caterpillar? We have plenty of 'em around here. It'll grow up to be a nice butterfly but they're so cute and fuzzy when they're caterpillars. :)

I dug up an old picture of what ours look like. It's not all in focus but you get the idea. (It was my 223rd shot on my first DSLR, with the kit lens of course!)

Just make sure it's not a Puss Caterpillar...

Because these caterpillars appear as innocuous pieces of fluff, children and adults are easily tempted to pick them up. Even those who know their nasty reputations find it difficult to believe that these beautifully adorned, innocent-appearing animals have the power to move powerful, grown men to tears of pain and agony. One touch, however, quells all doubts in a blinding instant of truth.
