I just get home and my husband tells me I am going to be a happy camper. He got call for a great deal on a 5nt stay plus WDW tickets at a Ramada Inn 5 minutes from Disney. He gave them his Amex card. You also get a bonus cruise all for a low, low price. They are sending him the info in the mail. It is a HUGE red flag for me. The company is called Wholesale Connection Company or WCC and they have a 800# they gave us but I cannot find any info on the web. :confused3

Sounds like a scam to me! If it's free, why did they need a credit card number?

I'd call AMEX now to stop the card.

I did not say it was free. I am having trouble getting all the info from my husband. I think he feels like he got duped. He said it was a charge of around $370.

please cancel, this is a scam. i even think there are several threads about this here on the DIS.

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck it ain't a chicken. :) I hope it's not too late for you cancel and stop processing that trip. Good luck.

Sounds like a scam. I would say cancel the card asap.

I feel so bad for the OP's hubby.

He thought he'd be able to suprise his wife and make her happy with a trip, and now feels all stupid for making this mistake. UGH!

I feel bad for him. :guilty:

Why are there so many scammers out there? Geez?!? Totally sucks.

Without a doubt it's a scam :worried: ! Anytime someone calls you to get your credit card #, then all kinds of bells, whistles and red flags should go off. Years ago my SIL got one of these calls and they told her she won a trip to Las Vegas but they needed her credit card # to pay the taxes! She gave them the number and you can probably guess the end of the story :rolleyes1 . Let's just say she has still never been to Vegas  . Did they telll your husband he was obligated to view a time share? Even those they do by mail usually and I don't think they ask for credit card #'s. At least not up front. Let us know how things turn out. Hope you are not liable for anythng. :shamrock:

Thanks for the sympathy. He does feel bad. He loves to make me happy and this backfired. I called Amex and they have made a note to watch our account (they have great service) I have been getting the run around with the scammers. Big surprise, huh! They said they will not charge us but this was after some high pressure sales and speaking to 5 different people. I knew in my heart that is was BS. I just wanted to give my husband the benefit of the doubt. On a good note while I was dealing with Amex and the scammers my husband went to the grocery and came home with a dozen roses and steak and is in the kitchen fixing dinner. Bless his heart. :lovestruc

Oh my, it sounds so wonderful and I really hope your poor DH did not get scamed. We used to get that call/letter about twice a year. The more we refuse, the more tempting goodies they'd throw in. Fianlly had to be rude and hang up.

AAPR has an excellent article this month entitled 'Dream Vacation'? Riiiight! They claim Americans lose more than $12 billion a yr on travel scams. It also states that after you make a healthy deposit for a beachfront room and cruise, for many it ended baing a Ramada Plaza Hotel 15 miles fr beach and a cruise on a small undesirable boat that is umteen yrs old. The free tickets to Disney are only after an exhaustive time share presentation.

Sadly, once customers learn the hard facts, they usually lose their deposit, even tho Fl allows 30 days to cancel. You end up paying more in hidden charges for something not worthwhile than if you'd arranged a trip yourself.

Glad to see you contacted AE and they're keeping a watchful eye. On the other hand keeping my fingers crossed for you and yours that you're one of the lucky ones and it's all true!!! :goodvibes

Enjoy your roses and dinner!! What a sweetie you have!! :thumbsup2

Wow!! What a great husband  , you are very lucky :love2: ! Enjoy your evening together and maybe after your steak dinner you can plan a real Disney trip together :yay: .
