Is this a PARADE or a "Freak Show" of odd talent?

How on earth does Disney decide who appears on these "parade" shows?

I consider myself somewhat versed in popular music, but there are the strangest choices for who is a "headline act".

Sorry, but this list of "talent" for a so-called parade is an embarrassment considering how GOOD the actual Disney-produced shows are IN THE PARKS (heck, the corny old HOOP DE DOO looks like fine opera compared to many of these "acts" on this "parade" show.

Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE-quality lip-sync on an who-knows-who-this-is girl-group.
But they can just join the ranks of the evaporating groups (and even soloists) from past years.

Show us the RIDES, show us the HOTELS, show us the REAL SHOWS... all of which are far better than the over-produced mediocre musical numbers that make me feel ashamed to say I'm Disney fan.

Guys, if you're emailing the stations in your area that didn't air this program, THANK them for sparing you this debacle.

I DID like the tiny little preview clips from Expedition Everest and the Monsters Inc. rides.

They are all the Disney Stars that you see on the Disney Channel shows - Cheetah Girls, Raven, Phil of the Future - or on ABC, Kelly Ripa, Regis Philbin, John O'Hurley, etc. They want people who haven't been there think these people are in all the parades all the time, I think.

It was kind of nice seeing the Festival of the Lion King finale on Main Street in MK. I recognized lots of the CMs from that show.

It was one big advert, really. Some bits were quite a sad display, while others were a joy! The Lion King number was wonderful. And I thought John O'Hurley's "Be Our Guest" number was lovely. I also loved seeing the parade from Disneyland and the Monster's Inc. and Everest previews were super-great! The "talent", for the most part, was not good. And what is up with Ryan Seacrest, he's everywhere like horse $ hite.

Absolutely agree here. As I recall they did this exact same bit last year.

The FoLK is one of the best, if not THE best show at WDW.
Yes, I've seen many of these same CM's at the show.

THIS is exactly what I was complaining about in the first post.

The actual SHOWS at WDW are GREAT... the stuff (most of it, anyway) in the "parade" show was weak, third-rate, at best.

The John O'Hurley example: He is a good talent, but he was not showcased well in the B&B number (which is actually done much better by the same cast at the studios).
The re-staged number shown on the "parade" show did not show the best dancing routines of the MGM show... OR any dancing from Mr. O'Hurley himself for that matter. If you taped it, watch it again and just see if you can actually FIND any "footwork" by the man. It was very strange, the way it was edited.

Ok, this makes sense. However, what why were there not one but THREE representatives (Ryan Seacrest, Fantasia, and Kimberly Locke) from American Idol, a FOX series? Don't get me wrong, I thought they were some of the best and well known performers, but I wonder why they felt they had to reach out to a franchise they don't own (or does Disney/ ABC have some production or other roll in AI?)?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion

I agree about poor choices. What exactly is "Star" Jones a star of? I know she has a day-time show, but what else? And Raven? Please. She is looking like she is putting on pounds to do the Star Jones life-story movie. My guess is that her 15 minutes is just about up.
It was interesting to see the finished product, though, cause we were there the begining of the month, and saw a lot of the sets, and lots of military in uniforms walking around. Also the Jim Brickman number in front of the castle.
Lastly, I thought Disney was looking for home-videos from people to put in the show. All the old ones they showed I'm sure came from their library. I wonder what happened there?

Yep, the Christmas parade is one big advertisement for Disney, but I still enjoy watching it just to see WDW. I loved the parade parts, the sneak peek of EE, the Lion King part of the parade, ect....The Disney Channel stars didn't bother me, my niece loves Raven and the Cheetah girls, I can see having them on, but I could have DEFINITELY have lived without the TERRIBLE lip syncing girl at the end in the bad pink dress, can't remember her name, I think they said she said she was a Latin sensation? Whoever she was, she was AWFUL! Almost as bad as Mariah Carey last year. The Beauty and the Beast/Be Our Guest scene was fun, could have done without the lame Star Jones piece AND the weird thing with the President and First Lady. Could have they been any stiffer or less natural? I thought maybe they were animatronic figures for a second! :rotfl:

I think they used the fox personalites because American Idol's popularity. Most folks know who Ryan, Kimberly and Fantasia are. Not to mention they are all really good at what they do. I got teary eyed when Wayne and Kimberly sang (some of it had to do with the stage show) and I thought it was an excellent idea to end the show with Fantasia. They picked a wonderful song for her and she sang it beautifully, IMO. I would rather see those three than some of the people from the Disney channel, i.e. AJ & Ali, Cheetah Girls. The lip-synching was a little annoying.

I just loved it when Julie Andrews came on. Now she's Disney! :Pinkbounc

It would be nice for Disney to bring on some other classics, like Julie, for those of us who are not 12 years old. I personally can not stand Raven. And true, many of the performers were Disney Channel folks, but it would be nice to see more of an assortment of older ones mixed in with the teens. Disney is about all ages, right? :confused3

It is hard to believe that Disney could not afford some, what I call, more talented people. Like another poster noted . . . too many American Idol folks.

But I loved the clips of the parks, the Lion King and Monster, Inc. Too cool! :cheer2:

I think it might have been the best selection to attraction precisely the audience they wanted to attract -- a combination of teenaged girls and their mothers. That's the best demographic Disney could have hoped for, and the entertainment was aimed directly to please them.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
you guys are rough!!.. poor Raven...
Who would want to see more rides etc. ? Get the vacation dvd for that.
They definitely pushed Disney , but we still loved watching it! My daughter loved seeing all of her favorite Disney stars "singing" and my little one and I loved seeing the characters on the floats , dancing around etc. It was great seeing the other parks around the World.
It's Christmas in Disney...what could be better! :wizard:

I don't believe it will be rebroadcast.

I missed it. I understood that Hayden Christensen was supposed to be a part as well. What did he do? Did he bring his light sabre? :teeth:
