Hello Everyone,

We are supposed to be going to Disney Nov. 30th thru Dec. 3rd. We are very excited and thought that this should be a slower time to be heading to Disney as far as crowds are concerned.

However, I just called Disney today to check out the new discount code package deal and the CM told me that ALL values and moderates are completely sold out. :worried: She was going to check the Deluxe, but we can't afford that, so I told her not to worry about it.

I was really surprised everything is completely sold out. Why would they even offer new discount codes if they don't have rooms available??? Luckily, we already have reservations...I was just trying to get a better deal.

Has anyone traveled during this time before and could you please let me know how the crowds have been and if what I was told is normal? The CM also said there are NO slow times at all between now and January 15th. I thought the week after Thanksgiving was supposed to be lighter and a great time to go. Wow! I must not be up to date on things! :confused3

We went the week after Thanksgiving last year and it was great. However, the week you are looking at may be Pop Warner week. It is a big high school cheerleading, football event. They usually take up the value resorts. There have been conflicting reports about how they effect park attendance. I do not think it is too bad. Our last day there was their first day and there was some difference in wait times. We never did use any fastpasses that week. Just be prepared to listen to loud teenagers!

Read somewhere that there are several conventions that week also...restaurants will be overflowing....bummer.

The discounts are not available for the first week (discount dates:11/26-12/1 and 12/9-12/23/06).

Can't believe I chose that week when I haven't been to WDW in decades!!!

Thanks everyone...I checked and it looks like Pop Warner is Dec. 3-9th which is great because we are leaving on the 3rd, so this should not affect us at all.

I really think this will be a good time to go...regardless, I am SOOOO excited!!!

My dh and I are convinced this is THE BEST TIME to go. We checked in last year the Sunday after Thanksgiving, our last day was the following Saturday. We never had more than a 5 minute wait for anything with the exception of that last day. They were filming the Christmas parade with Regis and Kelly in MK that day and the park went from around 15,000 and attendance (as it had been all week) to approximately 65,000. UGH!!! It was still manageable, we were just abit spoiled from earlier in the week.

We feel that between the beautiful Christmas decorations and the lower crowds that the overall atmosphere can't be beat this week at the World. I don't understand what that person was talking about when they told you there are no downtimes until January. This is absolutely not true. It is without a doubt one of the best times to go.

As far as all the specials being sold out, they only allot a certain number of rooms to be booked at the discounted rate. Afterall, Disney will not be caught losing too much money. There will still be empty rooms everywhere. Just all the discounted rooms have been booked.

Have a great trip!!!!
Sally

Here's a pretty cool site we found that lists the crowd indexes by day at WDW...it also lists the days that Pop Warner are going on.

Thu, 30 Nov '06 4 EP AK MK MVMCP
Fri, 01 Dec '06 4 AK MK EP DS MVMCP
Sat, 02 Dec '06 6 MK EP DS AK
Sun, 03 Dec '06 6 AK MK
Mon, 04 Dec '06 5 EP MK DS AK MVMCP / Pop Warner
Tue, 05 Dec '06 4 MK EP DS AK MVMCP / Pop Warner
Wed, 06 Dec '06 5 DS AK Pop Warner
Thu, 07 Dec '06 5 EP AK MK MVMCP / Pop Warner

It won't let me post a URl... 1 is not busy..10 is crowded. the first characters are the best parks on that day...the last 2 are the parks to avoid.

I too called for those dates and were told they had nothing in the value or moderate. I didn't even ask for the discounted rates. The CM couldn't believe this either. We can't afford deluxe either so we are thinking about the week of Thanksgiving due to the kids school schedule. I just hope that Thanksgiving is not as bad as Christmas. :hourglass

I would assume you are talking about the fall discount code is a new one (there are several BYZ & ZAX are room only, and ZCW and ZDG are package with dining) You have to book prior to 10/29 and the code ends 12/23. I am using it for 11/22-11/29. I do not think the week you are going is blocked out from using, I think the availablity is gone. But keep trying (you have till 10/29)... I ahve been told that once the availbity is gone the code doesn't come back and I have been told it does... I believe it does... when I booked mine at POFQ, CBR didn't have an avaialbity, however I recenetly called, and they did have 1 room room with the code, so someone must have cancelled and it must open the code back up! If possible and willing check other value or moderates than what you have booked. On wed. when I called they had POR open with the discount to, and prior to it wasn't- in fact they had 2 rooms!

Typically starting the Sunday after Tahnksgiving (11/26) it slows back down until they start shooting the parade.. and that is usually localized to MK (I hav heard stay away from MK that day unless you want to see them taping for the show, but they sometimes cancel other parades/shows while taping).

I think you have picked a good time to go. We go annual for Thanksgiving, it is wonderful, the weather is typically nice, the crowds are ok, the decorations are up... there is nothing more magical than Disney at Christmas! You will love it!

We are considering going for Thanksgiving next year (08). How are the crowds. WE went in july this year and we planned well so the crowds did not bother us.

Any time you can go to Disney is a good time. Really Disney has been doing a lot recently to attract guests during the "slow" seasons. Crowds aren't like the summer but the parks aren't empty either. Have a great time with the mouse.
