Ok, thanks to the help of these boards and the posters and Mousesavers.com

I went through MS.com and got a $20 coupon and here is what I got:

Standard MidSize SUV - $205 with taxes! ($158 without) for Oct 7 - 14 - I got there through mousesavers.com and used a 20 coupon + the prepay option. I havent' booked it yet as I want to see if that's a good price! Help !

Well I am getting the mid-size SUV from Alamo for $148 (taxes included) for September 27-October 2, I don't know if that helps you any on your decision or not, but just thought you might want to see what others got :teeth:

I used the walmart code and a $25.oo coupon from the site !

I would crunch a few more numbers before you commit yourself to prepay. Once you do prepay, if the rate drops, you are charged a penalty for changing. Try using code 7011339 and coupon D24C and see how that works for you. I crunched my daughters number for a mid-size SUV for Oct. 22-27 (only 6 days) and got $186 total, but with prepay it was much higher. These codes are public codes, but you do need the coupon. If it works, I can help you find it, as I just printed mine.

Keep in mind that rates just started dropping and hopefully will continue to drop. Though no guarantee that they will get lower, you will have to keep a close eye on the transportation board for any changes.

The WalMart code is for anyone who shops there . . . pretty much all of us. Check out mousesavers.com. She lists all the rental discounts for the different car companies.

For the WalMart discount, use Code: 428448 and then the E-coupon that Alamo has availalbe to anyone for either $20. or $25. off (depending on car you rent). Good luck :thumbsup2

Wow that seems the cheapest I have seen yet - what code did you use ? Do you have to be a member of Walmart/Sam's club ??

I have used the walmart code (430710 and rate code BY) several times and was never asked for proof of membership, so I wouldn't worry about it !

I booked mine a few months ago which is why I got such a good rate ! I think if you wait a week or 2, you will see the price come down, I have been watching my dates since I booked, the last few days the rate has come within about 15 bucks of what I got a few months ago !

Good Luck to you !! :wizard:

I don't recommend using the prepay option only because there is a fee to change if the price goes down. Also, the prepay option is actually a contract ID, which takes 15% off. Many of the contract ID's that are public take off as much or more as the prepay option....

I agree with PoohBear, the rate will drop, but you have to watch it everyday. Back in April, I got a mid sized SUV for 8 days for $109 including taxes & fees. I also used to walmart code 430710 and BY. Good luck!

I've got the same basic res. booked, for 8 days period beginning 10/08 for $201, w/wm code & $25 coupon.

left off the code, hoping for a better deal to pop up since it was the same with or without code.

We paid $117 late June for same ressie.:rolleyes1
