I found a solid oak dining table with 6 chairs (one of which is a captain's chair). It has a removable leaf. It looks like the previous owner's stained it with cherry. Cherry is our favorite wood color. Anyway, they want $325 for it. Good price -- yes or no? TIA!

I would say yes. I am looking at a brand new solid oak country dining table 6 chairs and it is $1200.

it seems like a decent price, although of course a lot depends on the condition and whether you like the style. I have found that it's fairly easy to find an inexpensive table (even new) -- it's finding good, solid wood chairs that is difficult and expensive!

If I were you, I would find out the brand name of the dinning set and research online what it costs new. Then go from there. ;)

We got our solid oak dining table and six chairs for $150 last year. A couple from church was moving out of state and didn't want it any more. I'm sure they priced it so low because they didn't want to move it. It has the 'leaf' that you can add to make the table bigger - excellent for parties and when we have family over. It was in excellent condition - no marks or scratches, even on the chairs. I would guess that $325 is good as well. Especially compared to $1200!

We got it for $300 along with an oak roll-top desk for $200. Thanks for the advice.
