Is this a good gift for a 1 year old?

Our next door neighbor's have invited us to their DD's 1st birthday party which is on Saturday. DH and I debated and spent hours in Toys R Us looking for 'the perfect gift'. In the end, we ended up getting her a Fisher Price Little People Dollhouse that looks similar to this one.

I have no idea if this is a good gift for a soon-to-be one year old. I only know we were told it was appropriate for her age by the friendly and extremely helpful Toys R Us saleslady.

I think it's a great gift. I have yet to meet a young child who doesn't like the Fisher Price Little People stuff, my own son included!

Me neither, which is why I thought we should get it. The dollhouse is very cute and pink and girly. Her parents suggested we buy her clothes when we asked if there was anything they specifically wanted for her, because I'm pretty sure a 1 year old doesn't know what they want or can even ask for something in particular.


Which we did also end up buying her a cute little summer outfit with Winnie the Pooh on it (but only cuz it was on sale god I am so cheap sometimes! LOL ).

I remember my two kids loving any type of toy like that (they are now teens). They would spend hours playing with and that is a toy that will be used for several years.

Good choice.

Little People are great, but the child won't play with it for a bit. But they are terrific.

My son got this for his first birthday and loves it.....he's almost 18 mo's. He just started playing with the Little People.

The dollhouse was a really good choice. She might not play with the whole thing now but probably will enjoy holding/carrying the people. It's a good toy for her to grow into. Her parents will appreciate having something new for down the road as well.

DD got the Little People Farm, Noah's Ark and Circus for Christmas just before she turned 1yo. She has played with them since day one. Some days she focuses on just the animals and people and other days she plays with the buildings too putting the animals in their sections.

I think that it's a great gift!!

Great gift! My 3 year old daughter loves Little People and has been playing with them since she was just shy of one year old. We have little people toys everywhere but they keep her busy, still!

I'm sure the birthday girl would have alot of fun with that. The Little People's collection is age appropriate and is a great toy. My daughter had also gotten the farm set and loves playing with it.

I think the little people are so cute, but we decided to wait to get DS little people until Christmas when he'll be 1 1/2. Right now, all he'd do is throw the little people or chew the little people. We decided to get some things he'd enjoy now. We actually got him that ball popper as one of his gifts and he just loves it...and so did all the other kids at his party on Saturday.

I think the little people is something she will grow in to if she doesn't know exactly how to play with them now.

We got my DS the Little People Noah's Ark for his 1st birthday last week and he plays with it all the time! I think you made a great choice!

I also *love* the new little people toys and think they are wonderful gifts- I *really* love the new little kingdom Castle sets and just need to find a way to justify them.... I *do* own the Noahs ark set

We got DD the LP farm for her first Birthday and she loved it! 4 months later, for Christmas, she got the house and zoo. Her current favorite is the amusement park she got form her Uncle last Christmas. She loves them all and likes to have the chicken ride the ferris wheel.

I think it is a good gift to give.
