Is this a good FP+ throw away strategy?

I just tried it, and yes I was able to make 3 FPs for tomorrow and then canceled one of them.

Yes.
You can ALWAYS cancel any FP+ in advance.

BUT-
The question is, if you DO that (cancel on a day that you are not in the park,)
on the day that you ARE in the park, can you then make a "4th" FP+ after using just the remaining FP+ reservation(s.)

Hmmm, I see the issue. You suspect the system cares whether the cancellation was the morning of or on a previous day? And you have successfully done this by canceling the morning of, right?

I hope someone finds the answer... does it matter if the throwaway FP is canceled before using the other two? Who has tried this?

Another question... do you still have to go to a FP kiosk in the park to get a 4th (or "4th") FP? Or can you do it from your phone app yet?

So all the strategies of using up the 3 FPs or dumping some of them will probably not do any good?

I'm asking because last trip, we just rope dropped TT and used a FP for Soarin. The line for TT was not *terrible* at rope drop, but it was longer than we wanted to wait. I think this trip, we will go 2 days to EP and do FPs for Soarin and TT on 2 different days. Other than single rider for TT, is there another, perhaps better strategy?

Sounds like any way you slice it, trying to get one of them as a 4th is a slim possibility.

We did the 2 day strategy for Epcot last week. We arrived at Disney on Sunday and spent the evening at Epcot with FP's scheduled for Soarin', SSE, & Nemo. Didn't really need the FP's for SSE & Nemo -- both were walk-ons by the time we arrived. Also spent Monday at Epcot and did the rope-drop strategy because we wanted to ride TT twice. We were at the gates at 8:13 and we were about 15-20 people back at the tapstyles. Park opened at 8:53 and we were walking in to the TT building at 8:57 (the sign indicated the stand-by wait was 30 minutes. I knew not to believe that -- we were in the first group of people to enter the design room). Even after spending a little time looking at cars on the way out, we were still out front again by 9:15. We used our FP later that morning. We took an afternoon break and then went back to Epcot for the evening. DH and our 2 daughters wanted to ride TT for a third time so they got in line at 8:30 and had a 10 minute wait (the stand-by wait was listed as 40 minutes, I think).

As of last week you still had to go to the kiosks. Out of curiosity, I tried to make a 4th FP reservation through the app a few times during the week and wasn't able to do it.

The prescribed technique is to cancel the unwanted FP+
(either one or two of them) ON the day that you are standing in the park, BEFORE using any remaining FP+.

Is this the only viable way to work it?
I don't know.
