I have on reserve until the 28th.......

Check in Aug. 23 for 5 nights (buy 3 get 2 free)

for 2 adults and 5 children (16, 15, 10, 10, 10)
2 rooms (connecting) at Royal Pacific Hotel
includes park tickets (no insurance)
$2,223.69

I currently have bounceback at POP 2 rooms free dining, 10 day park tickets, 11 nights for under $3,500.

I would shorten Disney to 7 nights and do Universal for 5. This is tough, because we will still have to pay to feed the 7 of us for 4/5 days.

Is this a deal? What would you do? We've never been to Universal before, but went to CityWalk 2 years ago. Help!

I think that is probably about as good as you are going to get.

We have a family of 5 and we are staying at the RPR for 3 nights. I feel like 5 days is too many for only 2 parks. We are excited to be going to universal and then to Disney ourselves. You can do both of the universal parks in 2.5 days with the FOTL pass.

I have to respectfully disagree here. I spent 7 days between US/IOA and still feel like we didn't see/do it all (we stayed off-site that trip). I like the slower pace of US/IOA. I like not having to get out of bed for rope drop and spend 12-14 hours a day in the parks, rushing from thing to thing trying to fit it all in. I like to be able to spend time at the resort, hanging out at the pool and not coming home feeling like a need a vacation from my vacation. I think 5 days at US/IOA is perfect. In fact, I'll be there next week for 5 days and I can't wait:cool1:.

We often go to Universal for at least 5 days. Sure you can do it in much less but that's not what a vacation is all about. It is about spending time doing family things, not just racing from ride to ride!!!

We tend to get up a little later on vacation and have a leisurely start to the day. Then we do the parks for a few hours and come back to the hotel and swim and hang out or wander around Citywalk for a while. Later we go back to the parks a bit more before dinner. We also like to have a leisurely lunch at one of the great onsite restaurants like Mythos or one of the Citywalk restaurants. It is especially nice in the summer not to have to spend the hot afternoon in the parks.

It is so nice to come home from vacation not needing to recuperate.

I have to agree with you cause on our very first trip to universal we did 3 days and didn't get to see and do what we wanted and felt rushed in what we did do but for the past 2 trips we did 5 days and still missed things but loved being able to take our time and since we were stayng onsite a RPR we could take a break from the parks and either resting in the room or letting DS's hang out at the pool and then head back to the parks later on in the day.
But I love universal the more days the better :thumbsup2
