Is this a fair price?

I requested a quote from a local TA for a 6 night/7day charter to WDW from Reading, Pa (about 45 miles northwest of Philadelphia), first week of June 2005. Originally I asked for Pop Century; that quote is $1596 for accomodations, airfare and mid-size car rental. I later asked for the same trip, but for Comfort Inn LBV, which came in at $1235. How reasonable are these prices? Theme park passes are not included, and the prices they provided aren't any cheaper than if I went to TDS and bought them in advance.

I wouldn't commit to anything until the new packages came out. You can get the free Disney shuttle, and maybe find a code price on the room.

Booking it on your own:
*6 nights at Pop rack rate $99/night + 11.5% tax = $662
*2 6-day adult MYW passes w/hopper and plus options = $569
*one week intermediate-size rental at National
Priceless Vacation Code, $20 off Entertainment coupon = $151 (I just checked this)
*2 RT PHL--> MCO via USAir = $420 (just checked this one, too)

Total = $1802.

The room rate will probably come down with a code, as will the airfare. The rental car is actually a pretty good rate already. I'd say that for a package that doesn't include passes, they're asking too much.

I would suggest you call Disney (407-wdisney) reservations and find out the cost of six nights at a value resort at that time (room only). Check a few airlines for prices from PHL to MCO, as well as some rental car web sites.

Generally fox six nights at POP should run about $500 including tax. Mid-size rental car for a week sould be about $200. That is showing $900 for air fare; if for only two people it is VERY high.

Go to www.mousesavers.com and look for codes. Generally you can save a lot by "unbundling" a package.

BTW, be aware that the first week of June tends to get very crowded (Gay Day at the Magic Kingdom will be June 4)

aka-mad4themouse, You Rock! :rockband: I had been keeping a budget of my own for a future trip and could come up with a conculsion whether the TA's rates were any better than I could do on my own. I hadn't gotten around to checking the MYW prices, as I only learned about them this week and I'm at a complete loss as to what is a good rate with airfare, as we've never flown anywhere before.

There are three of us - 2 adults and 13 yo DD on day of departure, June 5. June 5 is the date I'd ideally like to go, but DD would only miss the last two days of school and I figured it probably wouldn't be too terribly hot then compared to July. The TA didn't have their rates past mid-July.

Thanks Chesire Figment for your input. I hadn't researched the events happening at that time of year. We really had our minds set on returning at Thanksgiving again. I started this plan on a whim and I haven't decided if it can be done or if I want to attempt it.
