What the heck is my problem?? I became a DVC Member and now I am infatuated with everything Disney. I find myself calling the airlines looking for cheap airfare and trying to see when I can escape, and I don't even get my points until August.

I go online to get work done and fined myself mysteriously going onto this website. I think it's an addiction! :confused3

Anyone else feel like that??

I guess all I can do is plan for my next trip in May. :moped:

You're a DVC member---I'm not sure if that makes us crazy...but planning the next trip helps keep my sanity intact. Welcome to the group!!!

No points until August? I think the cure for that is ... more points. The more you read the DVC boards, the more you see that this is what we're doing! STAT! :bounce:

DeeDeeDis said it. Welcome to our world! we're all like this. I just finished my scrapbook from my Disney trip in Oct. 04, I collect disney pins, Disney crytsal figurines and I have a Disney kitchen. When I'm not going to Disney, I'm planning Disney! Don't worry, you're as "normal" as the rest of us! :earseek:

Boy do we sympathize with EVERYTHING YOU'VE SAID! Our first trip to the world was at WL--My DH had to CONVINCE me to stay there---I was thinking dollars---he was thinking atmosphere---we went---opted for the atmosphere---I was HOOKED! We went back again the following year and yet again the next---After our last trip, we had decided we were "taking a Disney Break" that was December 04---long story short, we just paid for our DVC Membership 03-05 and we have planned our first trip home for September (fourth to WDW) and have already planned for a couple more after this one! Wonder how far in debt you can actually get borrowing points---infatuated would be putting it mildly for us! So chin up---you're a confirmed Dizney Zombie and you are not alone---take a real good look at this website---I think we're in good company!

Can't you borrow? When we bought our resale, we had 49 points, and so we borrowed from the next year to rent a one bedroom during peak season. I thought it was well worth it. And I also have come to think it is better to borrow all your points ahead of time so that you are never in a situation where you lose any points if something comes up and you can't make a trip. I am so tempted to go at the end of May for 3 nights. We've done that twice and I swear "next time" will be for a week. But Spirit airlines was offering 63.00 one way air fare from Chicago, and Alamo wa soffering $115.00 SUV rental from a Thursday to Sunday in May. So tempting. But we have two other preplanned vacations to "get out of the way". An Easter trip to visit relatives in West. VA, and then a trip to see other relatives in San Jose in July. Maybe October!

I think the condition is described in the DSM IV for psychological disorders. An entirely new disorder that is evolving.... Many of us have it.

Hi,

Have the same problem! Been "disneyfiyed" since May 2001!!!

Allison

You're not alone. This board is full of people who have been Disneyfied. I caught a mild case in 98, but since 2000 I just can't get enough!

I feel slightly better, now that I know I am not the only nutcase around. At least I have neighbors who think the same as I do. :goodvibes

I am the person who used to take lots of vacations and then I became a responsible adult with a real job and real responsiblities and never took vacation. ENOUGH OF THAT!!

Now I just finished planing my May trip although it will be some business while I am there...I am still going to spend time in Disney and I just told my secretary not to plan anything for my Birthday weeked because I will be in Disney!!! People think I have gone over the edge...I am more relaxed at work and feel like I have something to look forward to.

In September I plan on using some of my points and staying at the The Jefferson Hotel in Washington DC and taking my nephews on a History tour, can't wait. :Pinkbounc

Only one "semi" Disney vacation in the hopper?? You, my friend, are in the very early stages of the disorder.

Wait until you have three planned at all times...

No problem at all. This is considered quite normal behavior round here!! ;)

Some of us refer to it as Disneyitis. There is no known cure. But the symptoms can be treated in many ways. These are some ways we have found to ease the pain.

Spend time at your local Disney store, read the latest issue of Disney magazine. When a current magazine has been read, re-read those old back issues(I refuse to throw them away for fear of recurrence of the disease)

Other ways....watch a Disney video with the kids that you have seen at least 10 times before, wear something Disney related everyday of the week(these make you feel all warm inside), dig out those old scrapbooks of past trips to WDW, start a new scrapbook of those 300+ pictures you took on the last trip(this has a tendency to take time, therefore it has a longer lasting effect), get together with other DISers, they understand.

There are many many other treatments out there but here are the top 3......
Planning that next trip, spending vast amounts of time here on the DIS boards, and actually being in WDW in the warm sun.

Just remember, you are not alone, we are here for you. ;)

I hope you have someone at home to share your addiction with. Otherwise it can be tough, as I am well aware.

For daily checks on airfare, don't call. Use Orbitz and/or Travelocity. :earsboy: I do. :earsboy:

Your behavior is completely normal. The people who "just don't get it" are the ones needing help. My wife was getting grief from her scrapbook club over having so many Disney pictures. The other scrapbookers bombarded her with comments like "I have no desire to visit Disney", "Timeshares are all scams", "Don't you ever get tired of it?", and so on. Still, I have yet come across anyone who has regretted joining. DVC is a great thing and these boards are a healthy means of getting pumped up for future vacations, despite of any lost productivity at work that might result.

Get used to it- it only gets worse!! :earboy2: I am glad you have found others that share you addiction :cool1: :cool1:

Start planning your next get-away

1 admit you are defenseless against the disney addiction
2 admit there is a higher power than yourself--a mouse, no less
3 log on the dis once daily to see that there are others like you
4 maybe twice daily
5 right your wrongs---take everyone to disney
6 have more knowledge of dvc than your guide does
7 dream of an add on
8 add on
9 know that sanity is walking down main street
10 MVMCP MNSSHP
11 plan your next disney trip while you're still on the current disney trip
12 every time I leave I feel I've had the most memorable times of my life with my family

(no offense to friends of Bill W) ;)

Indeed your condition is normal. It's nice to have The DIS Boards, and all the great people here to fill the gap between trips... :drinking:

You forgot my FAVORITE treatment...

I frequently have Disney Park Music (either CD's I've bought at the parks or various Radio365 stations) playing in the background.

That REALLY seems to work!
