I must be missing something. Dinner (TS)ADR's are hard to get during FD, so why not make lunch ADR's? :confused3
My DD and I will be at the World for our first trip during FD. We are planning on doing the same thing re:meals as we do at DLand.....TS for lunch, CS for dinner. Here are the reasons why:

1) We will be eating a very light breakfast, and will be ready for a sit down break for a nice AC lunch.:thumbsup2

2) If we take a break during the afternoons (depends on hours), we would like to leave our evenings open and not be boxed in by ADR's.

I could see if we were paying for dining and wanted to get the "best bang for our buck" and eat the largest meals for the most expensive evening meals, but this is FD, people!! :woohoo: I just don't get it!!! :sad2:

Explain it to me, or talk me out of lunch ADR's.:upsidedow

Might be that it's so hot during the day that a lot of people don't want to eat that much food. We were there the first part of June one year and it was so hot we ended up splitting a bowl of fruit for lunch! Might be the difference in the menus between lunch and dinner; lunch tends to be sandwiches where dinner tends to be meat, chicken, or fish and a veggie.

I know that some of the nicer restaurants (especially hotel restaurants) are only open for diner, so I am sure that is part of the reason!

I'm with you - lunch ADR's are fine - but when we traveled with friends they balked at the idea of TS lunch. They also liked to eat only at "normal" hours (no 4:30 or 7:00 dinners no matter how great the restaurant). After dinner they were ready to head back to the hotel.

So what I'm trying to say is that some people are just set in their ways. Which leaves great lunch adr's open for us.:thumbsup2

For us it's a combination of factors--wanting to see Wishes from a TS restaurant, not wanting to miss park time with the parks closing early, having tours scheduled that will run into the afternoon, and just plain liking the dinner menu better than lunch. Also, going out to dinner at the end of the day and talking over the day is one of our absolute favorite things to do, whether we're on vacation or not.

Our ADR plans are 5 dinners, 1 lunch, and 2 breakfasts. (Although the Fantasmic! "dinner" times are so early, they might as well be lunch!) We'll see how they work out, though--my ADR day is Sunday.

Lunches are harder to find, most places aren't open. Plus, lots of folks don't want to break up the day like that. If I'm paying or on basic dining, I'll have a very early lunch and then something light for dinner. Breakfast is my biggest meal of the day normally (as it should be for everyone) but I detest standard breakfast fare, which is rarely anything more than sugar and empty carbs, so I don't do breakfast out most of the time. Instead a super early lunch that acts as my breakfast.
But, on deluxe, I do all three meals sit down. I don't care about missing park time, I prefer it in the middle of the day. My kids need downtime in A/C and then naps. Late lunches are perfect, and then they're up until 10.

I have no problem doing lunchtime adrs or early 4pm dinners...But it dpends .Some of my choices were only opened for dinner, some had a different dinner menu then lunch menu, and some we tried lunch and dinner already and found that lunch was not as good.It is all personal preference.Personally I LOVE dinner at 4pm ,which is way too early for most people, but it is when we eat at home since I work night shift

From my family's perspecitive, we don't eat large lunches and prefer to have a quick lunch and a nice sit-down dinner. We usually rush through lunch at home and have a good dinner. So our family is used to this. Also, we don't really like lunch type food, so no one wants to sit through a long lunch to eat something we're not too fond of. We usually share our lunches just to tie us over until our snack. We love snacks a lot more!:lovestruc

I remember one time, we decided to eat lunch at a TS restaurant, but we ate very little and by the time it was about 7pm, we were starving. So, it just doesn't work for us.

People may be the same way and would prefer TS dinners and quick lunches.:)

That sounds just like our family. We're in the parks during the day, and I'd hate to have to drop what we're doing mid-day to run somewhere to an ADR. For us, breakfast and lunch are more grab-and-go, and dinner is the main meal that we work around.
When I make ADR's, I'll switch restaurants to have a dinner ADR 5-7pm, before I'll make a 2:00 lunch ADR just to go to a specific restaurant.

Sounds like it's mostly just personal preference. I was just worried that we were really far off base (it IS our FIRST time:banana:). I think we'll stick with mostly lunch ADRs, except for Ohana, Boma, and Liberty Tree.

I can't wait!:cool1: Now if only the hours would show up......:surfweb:

Try crystal Palace for lunch. We love it for lunch & it is a great little break from the park. We are lunch or late breakfast eaters.

I think that lunch ADR's are a great idea if you think you'll be hungry at that time. It's not as expensive plus it's supposed to be healthier for you to eat your bigger meals earlier in the day.

I'm like you, I love to stay busy in the evenings when it's cooler out. I love nighttime in the parks.

A lot of the restaurants I want to eat at are only open for dinner. Looking at my list seven of the eleven restaurants that I have planned for dinners, have to be dinner, since they're not open for lunch. Three days I also have TS breakfasts planned, and I wouldn't want a TS lunch after a TS breakfast.

I think there are to many different factors for this. What your doing that day. Is the place you want to eat open for dinner. To hot to eat dinner for lunch.
Everybody's different. Everybody does with what works for them. I know if I didn't get LC and could only get it for lunch I would have switched it. I ran that thought by my family first. They really weren't crazy about the idea but I said hey if you want to eat here this is what you might have to do.

This is my reason for not making lunch ADRs. I also like to do later dinner ADRS so after dinner I will only be watching a show and/or going back to the hotel. I can't run around a park with a full tummy. With that being said, DH and I usually split a CS lunch.

to each is there own i guess. i try to get the same time everyday lol weird i know. i eat breakfast 530am m-f and on Sat/Sun usually by 730 or 8. Lunch i try to do at 12 everyday and dinner usually m-f 5pm and SAT/SUN 4-430ish. I kind of look forward to eating haha

We also prefer table-service lunch. We stay off-site so aren't on the dining plan. Lunch prices are lower and we typically spend all day in the parks, so a nice, long sit-down lunch serves as our mid-day break. We're also used to eating lunch as the main meal of the day and eating a lighter dinner. So, you're not alone in this and I'm glad that dinners are so important to so many others because it frees up the restaurants at lunch for us!
