Is there ever a time when Beaches n Cream is not busy?

I'm just wondering because we would like to try it when we stay at the Beach Club but it sounds like it's always packed? Also, if you get refillable mugs, is this the only place to fill them up? I don't want to always have to fight with crowds to fill mine. Can you fill them up yourself or does a waitress do it for you?

I've never seen it not busy. I think the worst time is right after park closing. You can also fill up the mugs at the pool snack bar. Some people have said you can get them done at the lounge and sit-down restaurants, but I felt a little weird about that and never tried it. There is no place to fill them up yourself and my experience is that you pretty much always have to wait to get them filled. The refillable mug program does not work as well as yc/bc as it does at the other resorts. I would not buy them if I had the decision to make again, BUT we drive so have a cooler with water, soft drinks, etc. in the room. If you do decide to get them, keep in mind that you'll save a dollar or so by buying them at Beaches or Hurricane Hannah's instead of from the room mini bar. You'll also have the full color choice instead of just what was stocked in your room.

I asked the CM hostess this same question last November when I was there. First she laughed! This was after Illuminations, and she told me that she thinks the guests run over there after Illuminations, seeing who can run the fastest! However she suggested late afternoon (I remember she said that's when she comes in to work and it's the least crowded she ever sees it) or probably right after opening, after 11:00am or so. So I was there around 4:15 the next afternoon and she was right! No wait, and several free tables. Next trip I might try an early lunch to see how that time is too.

Hi.. I heard the only place to fill the mugs was at Hurricane Hannah's?

>>^..^<<

We went to Beaches (very hungry) for lunch at about 3:00 in the afternoon and were seated very quickly. We were so full when we left that no one wanted anything to eat until the next morning! It was my teenagers favorite meal of the trip. (Boma was the favorite for DH and myself.)

We always have to make a stop at Beaches and Cream when at WDW. We have done dinner twice at about 7p.m. both times when the parks were open until 9 so I think a lot of people had already headed to fireworks, Illuminations, etc. We didn't have more than a 5 minute wait. We did a late lunch twice and one time on a cloudy day we got in quickly, another time it was sunny and hot and LOTS of people at the pool. Many were going to B&C to retreat from the heat. DH put our name in, got the two of us a cold beer and the kids soft drinks to go and they told us we could sit at a table just outside the restaurant until we were called. It was about 20 minutes but we just relaxed and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Beaches and Cream is easier to get into in the afternoon. The noise, crowds and confusion in this place make it rather hectic in the evening. If you plan to spend a lot of time at the pool, the mugs are definately worth purchasing as you can refill them at Hurricane Hanna's. Getting on the icecream line at night to have your mug refilled can take forever.

we ate at B&C twice during our recent trip. Couldn't get a table either time. Ate once at the counter (not too comfortable) & once we did take-out & sat at the tables overlooking SAB. The menu is limited for take-out. Both times, we arrived for late-ish lunch, but both days, we didn't have time to wait for a table.

I have found that between 2:00 - 3:00 and a pretty good time to get in B&C. If you looking for coffee in the mugs, there is a re-fill station there at B & C that you can get them re-filled at. For pop, i would stop by HH, they are pretty quick there!

We have eaten at B&C many times, both lunch and dinner. The only time we have ever seen the place 'packed' is after 6:00. After 6:00 you often find an hour wait for a table. However, during lunch or for an early dinner we have always gotten a table quickly.

We went this past Saturday right after it opened about 11:30 and it was not too busy at all, however by the time we left around 12:30 it was full.

 Here are some quick options for your mug refill question. You can fill your mugs at the following locations:

*Beaches & Cream
*Hurricane Hannas
*The lobby bar in the hotel - this is usually open in the afternoon and the early evening.
*Cape May Cafe - Go to the stand where they are taking reservations and tell them you want a refill. They will go into the restaurant & fill it for you then return it.

This was my experience last July. I hope you enjoy your trip. :sunny:

I agree, between 2:00 and 4:00pm B&C is genrally not at all crowded. DH ate lunch there on the last two trips at around 2:00, maybe 2:30.

We sat on the stools at the counter, as the other poster said they aren't that comfortable, but it was fun, and we had a nice conversation with one of the CM's who was working the counter area. BTW--we could have gotten a booth, but took the counter for the "fun" of it, plus figured we'd save the booth for someone who needed it. :)

While we were eating we watched them make a Kitchen Sink--they really do put an ENTIRE can of whipped cream on that thing! Holy Smokes!! You do'nt realize how much is on it until you actually watch them make it!!!

Does anyone know what's on the take-out menu?

Edited to add: I know, from reading the take-out menu at Deb's site, they have ice cream treats. But, I'm wondering what else you can get to go. I think I read that someone picked up hamburgers to go. Can you get anything else? Like the onion rings? Or the chicken soup?

I'm almost positive that anything they serve there, except the Kitchen Sink, can be made "to go".

Busy? We ate there twice during our trip last month, and we were able to walk right in and be seated both times. We had dinner on a Saturday night -- I'll guess it was 6:00 or 7:00 -- then we had lunch around 1:00 one day mid-week. Maybe we were just lucky.

I did notice that the line for drink refills (and take outs) was very long, but the restaurant portion wasn't overly busy.

I ate there twice with my 3 children during our last trip, and while the wait was not bad either time (don't remember exactly what time it was), we kept getting a whiff of a peculiar odor! My daughter (5yo) and I both seem to have particularly sensive noses, and we both smelled the same thing. It reminds me of a sort of sour, wet odor (maybe) under those mats they sometimes have behind bars. Anyone else ever noticed this?

Bravemom--Was this while you were seated or waiting?
