Is there ever a time to go to Mickey's not so scary Halloween when It's not so crowded?

I've read a lot of reviews and most people say the crowd was too much. I was planning on going 2021 in the 2nd week of Oct.

Honestly, only time I’ve not seen it crowded has been when hurricanes have threatened the area.

I went in 2018. I waited over an hour to see Jack and had barely moved. I finally convinced my daughter to do something else. It's not something I would do again, especially if the same experience were to be expected.

Wife and I just got back from an adults only trip and we did MNSSHP last Tues (the 15th).

Crowds were very light. Most of the rides were walk right on. We entered the line for Moana right at 7:00 and were chatting about Maui's fishhook with her at 7:30. We waited about the same for Jack Skellington.

To be fair, we have been on days where the crowds were bad. But last Tuesday at least was a winner for us.

I went opening night 8/16 and a week later on 8/23.
Opening night was very crowded as expected, one week later it was so light. Other than the big m&g everything else had minimal waits, we grabbed a prime spot on MS for ther first parade only 30 min before parade time.
Now, the crowds are up overall for these parties so it really depends on what you want to get out of it

In 2018, we were there the 2nd week of September. Crowd level was around a 5 ( out of 10 ) - we got on rides very quickly BUT photos ops were outrageous so we skipped them.

I've done it twice. Probably a decade ago in a fairly non crowded October week. And it was still crowded. I don't think I'd do it again.

I went tonight and I didn't think it was crowded at all.
We were there tonight as well. Crowds were great! TOT lines were short all night, and character lines weren’t bad either. We met Elvis Stitch with only two other people in front of us around 10 pm. Walked on rides as well. A great night !

Really there is no rhyme or reason as to how busy the party is from one to the next. Columbus Day weekend has become super crowded in the parks, but the Friday before Columbus Day party in 2017 was the emptiest party we have seen in 10+ years. We did the MK during EMH the same morning and found the park to be the emptiest we have ever seen it until 10-11:00. We had done so much between 7-10 AM that all of the big rides were done as everything was walk on, that the buses weren't running back to the resorts yet. We went back in a Disney 15 seat van. The party itself was walk on rides, no TOT lines, and front row for the second parade 15 minutes before it started. Even this week, Thursday is sold out, Friday is not.

We were at the second party this year. I think you have to break it down by what you want to do.

Let's face it - the special M&Gs are going to be crowded. We tried to wait for Elvis Stitch and the line barely moved for 45 minutes, and the fireworks were going to start. However, the lines for the rides were short and moved quickly. We rode a LOT of rides during the party itself, grabbed a little candy, watched the parade and the fireworks and did some shopping. Waiting two hours plus for a M&G is going to happen no matter which party you go to, but walking onto Buzz five times in a row won't unless you're at a special event like this.

Went on the second party date (Aug 20). Felt like a regular day at the park with 5 crowd levels. Waited 15 minutes for Constance's Cake, 15-20 for each ride with overlays, and camped out for a prime seat in the hub for Sanderson sisters, parade, and fireworks show. Didn't wait for characters, did all the photopass spots, only trick or treated at 3 locations.

We went Tuesday Oct 1 and it was crowded but totally manageable. I dont think there is ever going to be a party where you can do EVERYTHING. We have been before and it was still really hot in Florida so we didnt get to the party until shortly before it officially started. We didnt really have a specific plan. Just started moving around the park and trick or treating as we went. We did think about watching the first parade but that was waaaaay too crowded. Instead we went to Tomorrowland which was fairly empty at that time and then went into Fantasyland. We watched the fireworks behind the castle and found a spot after in Frontierland to watch the second parade.

Most likely the 50th anniversary celebration will start 10/1/2021. I would expect crowds.

All but the first August party had lower attendance. After Dorian left, crowds came back. Last night's party was not sold out and the crowds were so much lower. We walked onto the rides we went on.

With the robust price hike for tickets in place and accounts of some party nights being very crowded, DW and I decided to skip MNSSHP this year. Besides, it was sold out one night we were at MK last week. Since locals can buy a season's pass it probably jacks up the crowds a bit more than usual some nights. I've enjoyed MNSSHP in the past but don't feel like its a good investment for us anymore.

Your best bet will be to go on a weeknight when locals are less inclined to go, and to avoid the Columbus Day weekend holiday that typically falls the second week of October.

Thank you for this info! I went to the first party and was really disheartened at the crowds. Next year I’m considering the second party and that makes me feel better.
