to get the dining plan without staying on the resorts? I really want to get it as I think it will help with our meals, but I just can't believe you can't add it on like the park hopper option.

No, you have to stay on the resort in order to get the benefit of a dining plan.

It's not related to the park tickets. It's Disney's way to fill the resorts and keeping people onsite to spend their money.

Disney has come up with 2 great ways to keep people on their property-Magical Express and the dining plan.

The only way to get the dining plan is to book a package reservation at a Disney resort (or join DVC - or rent DVC points).

The dining plan is tied to your resort stay, not your tickets.
