Is there anything to do if we skip the shows?

We never go to the shows. We do late dining so I usually hit the Gym, the hot tub and then one of the bars for a martini in that order. I'm not the type person that has to be busy every second of a vacation. I'm pretty happy with a good book, an adult beverage, and a nice ocean breeze.

We not normally doing the regular theater shows, with an early seating the youngest normally cannot wait to get back into the clubs while we relax in the Cove Cafe area (or elsewhere on the ship) for quiet "adult time". I don't know if just us, but the hype of the regular theater shows we never seem to get wrapped up in but have never found ourselves bored or without something to fill the evenings be it a movie, beverage, book, or just us and some Eye Scream (no veranda required).

our first cruise - yep, did all the shows. Last one - I think we saw 2. Kids had way too much fun riding slides and Aquaduck with no lines...swimming with no crowds, watching Funnelvision. We just spent family time. I enjoyed it far more.

You can join the verandah club without having your own verandah cabin, you just have to be more creative.

Okay here is another question, sorry if I am going off topic but slightly related. DH and I are taking our first cruise, it is a 3 day on Dream Sept 29- Oct 2, Halloween on the high seas. We will have no kids with us, so my question is - Are the shows worth our time?

That is a completely subjective opinion and you'll get the range of answers. To help (maybe): Do you like stage shows? Do you like Disney themes?

If yes and yes, then you'll probably think so. If NO to either, then possibly not. I like Disney but hate live performances. I have sat through most of the shows but am super happy when I don't have to. So...a definite maybe

We do like Disney, stage shows can be hit and miss. We enjoy the Lion King show at AK, say the Finding Nemo one there once, that was plenty, don't like the B7B one at DHS. We dont mind plays, if they are funny.

I'm not going to say NO because there are a looot of fans here of Believe and the Golden Mickeys. The only show I thought was funny was Villains Tonight which most don't like and is being retired in November. Again, I'm not a show person. I do like sarcasm though (hence my appreciation of Villains).

over the next 4 months I will be on the ships twice: and I anticipate going to all of the main stage shows. I think that in our 120+ nights on board Disney Cruise ships that we skipped the show(s) only once (Toy Story - some people loved it and we're in the group that Hated it - and we gave it a second chance and still didn't like it).

I've only been on the Dream once and I don't remember what the shows are, but you should try and see them - they only last 40 to 60 minutes.

We gave it 3 tries. Still hated it.

The shows on the Dream are Believe, Golden Mickeys, and Villains Tonight. As noted Villains Tonight is going away in November.

I like Golden Mickeys. Believe - just to corny for me. And Villain's Tonight just doesn't live up to what it could be (even after multiple rewrites).

That said, I'm in the camp of "if you're a first time DCL cruiser, do them all. Make your own decision as to whether they are worth it"
