Is there anything special you do before your trip to DW??

Every night before bed after her prayers (in an effort to stay up later) my daughter asks what I want to talk about, I ask her back, and each night is the same answer, "Disney". She is 4 and she is going for the 8th time next month, so she has plenty to talk about. What rides she wants to ride, what characters she wants to see, and always discusses the "remember when" from our previous trips. This is special to me, because as youngsters, my brother and I would do the exact same thing every night..... WOO HOOO

I can not tell you how much this is like our nightly routine!

Every night I remind DBF "We're going to Disney World!" And we start buying pins on ebay to trade when we get there. We have 25 saved up right now and our trip isn't until December! I think I am going to try and convince him to watch one disney movie every night before our trip...maybe starting that 2 weeks out. I just need to find a way to tear him away from the X-box!

We make a "countdown" chain of paper loops. Every day DD6 pulls one off. My Dsis has a paperclip chain at work.

It has become part of our tradition to have a paper chain, too. In fact, that is how we told the kids this time (I have been planning the trip since April, but we never tell the kids until about 30 days out).

I made the chain (38 days/chain links) after they went to bed. I put little sayings, mickey heads, and Cars stickers on each one along with the number. For example, #36 may say "Only 36 days till EE!!" Or something like that.

This year I put it in a gift bag, and we let them open it on the night before school started! It really gave them a thrill & took away those back to school blahs!


Anyway..I thought this year they may think they were too old for a chain but they loved it!

Every morning before school, they take turns (one has even #'s, the other odd) tearing off a link and read/look at it before throwing it away! It is REALLY a fun way to start our morning!

We declare whatever day that is 100 days out from our vacation to be "Disney Day". We start the day with Mickey waffles and discuss the trip over breakfast. The rest of the day is filled with playing the Disney trivia game, watching Disney movies/cartoons and reading Disney stories. It gets us in the mood!

About a month before we leave we start the paper chain, and two weeks out is when we start the disney movie fest.

I love the "Disney Day" idea! I'm going to do that before our next trip!

similar to the chain idea we are doing a single digits calendar countdown.
each kid was assigned a number 0-9 we have 3 kids , so each got 3 numbers and 3 pieces of white paper and I got #0 and they had to make a character theme for each number. Then, we hung them up , so now each day the kid whose number it is gets to take their number down, until we get to my Zero which is THE DAY.

During the day I will say to my one son or he says to me "Guess what?" "Disney in __ days"

I am also into buying all new socks, undies and clothes, shoes. Since we are going in Sept this year and Aug last year we hit all the end of summer clearance sales...new clothes cheap! I leave it all in the packages and put in the suitcases. I admit, we have been packed almost 100% for about 2 weeks now.

We watch movies. I bought a cd of Disney music..zippidy do dah
Course, peruse the forums and allears
This time we are really planning on trying different dining experiences.

We can't stop talking about it and friends and relatives can't even understand, after all "you were just there last year"

I love the Disney's Silly Songs CD, even though we don't have kids yet, DH and I love to sing and laugh along with this CD, its great! I got it out of the library this time, but I think I'll copy it so we can listed in the car on the way there!

Wow... I love the ideas!

Last year before our trip, my pre-trip regimen included being on the DISboards for several hours every day. Also... I haven't ever thought of doing any of this stuff!!!

Even though we're getting married tomorrow... I think I'm going to go out and get the Mickey heads to put on the fridge before DF gets home!!! He knows I'm Disney nuts... so is he! He says he is more excited for the trip than the wedding, and I am too

Next week, I'll cue up the videos.

The only thing we have planned is to go to Rainforest Cafe sometime next week. There is one only 10 mins from home but we usually try to avoid it 'cause it is pretty pricey.

I've got a tradition when I get within 14 days, which I am today. Starting today, every day I check the Accuweather weather report for that day at WDW. Then I think about what I'm planning to do that day and how that weather will affect my plans. And of course, I have to go back and double-check all the other days because as the time gets closer, the weather report changes! For example, today I got the weather report for arrival day. By the time arrival day actually gets here, I'll have checked the weather for arrival day about 14 times, but that's OK. It's fun!

We always do a countdown (& it's just me & hubby! LOL) - I love the pics on here of the Mickey Head Countdown!! I may have to make one of those tonight!

We also tend to start watching lots of Disney movies in the weeks before our trip. Just 3 weeks from tomorrow!!!

30 days: set countdown on wife's watch (Casio ladys pathfinder) check it every day for next 30......
20-10 days: pack, download park music off limewire, Kazaa, or whoever we have at the time , buy the little things, book reservations:
day before: burn music to discs; label discs.
Trip down: before we leave, we pray, then on trip down we race to see who can figure out which ride or show the music goes to first. Winners get candy. We have games in the car, winner gets candy. If i lose, I still get candy.

I like your methods with the candy there...
DH and I just got our favorite Disney CD out from the library: Disney's Silly Songs. We are just a pair of really big kids blasting these classic silly songs in our car and singing along to "I'm My Own Grandpa" or "Mairzy Dotes". Its great! For the drive up, I am planning on getting the CD with all the greatest Disney songs so we can brush up on the words.

The last two trips I made music mixes on Itunes with disney songs and other songs that reminded me of previous trips. I'm actually listening to one right now...it's fun to listen to them on the plane trip down, heightens the anticipation! 18 days left!!!!

Ahhh Mickey's Not So Scary halloween..... FINALLY get some Disney candy.... cant wait.

We have just 13 days to go!!! I ordered all kinds of Disney CD's from the library today, that Disney Silly Songs one just got me hooked! We are going to be jamming to Disney beats all the way up to Orlando!
