Is there any way of doing WDW on a budget?

Hi we stayed at a 1 bedroom at OKW for the four of us 2 ad and 2 teens it was fantastic, we had the regular free dining NOT the upgrade to deluxe which would be too much food in my opinion and I like to eat!! I would hold out for the OKW discount offer and the free dining which should prob come out soon for OKW for 2012 , I noticed the free dining for some of the hotels was out last week. In the 1 bed accom we had in the living room a double sofa bed and sleeper seat which was fine for us. We had the sep bedroom which was fab. Although there are dedicated 2 bedroom accomm, I think that most are a studio and 1 bedroom with adjoining door which would be great too,. Hope this helps. We had a room opp turtle road bus stop and it was good for us. building 35.
Edited to add OKW has a shop for the essentials as well and a fab restaurant Olivias where you could have breakfast (1 table service credit .)

How did you find out flight prices on Expedia, don't they only have them 11 months out?

I'm trying to price up October 2012 and there doesn't seem to be many places to get prices at the moment

the amount quoted in my post above is already for free dining...
the £2,855 is for the 2 bedroom villa - which is what the disney site comes up with - it doesn't permit the 1 BR for 5 people-(if they were only 4 people, they could take a 1 BR, but for 5 people they have to take the 2 BR)...

anyway, the £2,855 is for the 2 bedroom villa, with free dining for all 5 (the table service dining plan), and the 14 day unlimited ticket for all 5 of them...

the airfare is not included in that price....

Oh wow!

We were looking at the option where you pay an extra £700 or something silly to get breakfast included, but with our own kitchen, I guess we could just get something in!

Is there a shop close where you could buy bread, milk, cereal etc?

H.x

the resort has a little store right in the main building (where you check in)..
it has milk, cereal, bread, bagels, cheeses, soft drinks, donuts, cookies, junk food, some boxed things that can be cooked (like macaroni and cheese, spaghetti) etc
i think there were also eggs in the fridge...

there was everything we needed for breakfast and plenty we didn't want or need, but someone might...

POR riverside will sleep 5 In the alligator Bayou section you get 2 queen beds( after the renovation) and a pull out trundle bed.

Can't help but agree with the logic of staying on site and especially at OKW which give the free DDP and would enable the OP to enjoy some of the Table Service restaurants, buffets and/or dinner shows.

As noted above as well, staying on-site would mean that you have the Disney Transport system to get around to the parks, and there is a boat from OKW to Downtown Disney every 20 minutes.

One thing not previously mentioned is that by staying on site, you can also make use of the complimentary Disney Magical Express coach between Orlando International Airport and the resort, but NOT available if you fly charter into Sanford. This would save on the cost of taxis.

the system will not permit you to reserve POR with 5 people - you get a notice that the resort cannot accomodate a group that large...
