All the video bloggers seemed to be praising the heck out of this restaurant, yet when I go on Yelp it's not getting the stellar ratings that the bloggers would have you believe. Has anyone tried it first hand and what was your overall verdict? We are going to have two days in the MK....we agreed to do Tony's one day, as when we tried it on our first DW trip we did not find it to be bad at all, despite all the hate it gets. Trying to figure out dinner the second day is going to be more challenging. I thought about trying to score Steakhouse 71. I don't want to get too far away from the MK in case we decide to go back into the park after dinner. My son likes steak....and hot dogs....so it's either Steakhouse 71....or Casey's (which I've never tried personally).

Many vloggers praise anything they get for free. You can’t trust them.

Many people go on Yelp to complain. It’s far more uncommon for somebody who had a great meal to take time and write about it.

General consensus with Steakhouse 71 is that it was an excellent refurbishment of The Wave. However your best bet is to give it a try yourself and see how you like it.

We've eaten there twice - once for lunch and once for dinner. For lunch we all ordered the burger and thought they were great. We also ordered the crab cake appetizer and thought it was fine, though nothing special. We pretty much hated our cocktails. None of them were good, and our service was terrible. The first thing our server said to us when he walked up was it was his first day serving lunch - and it showed. We aren't picky when it comes to service and actually enjoy a slower, well paced meal but this was just bad. The poor guy was sweet but had no clue what he was doing.

A couple of months later, we had dinner there and it was wonderful. We all ordered steaks - 2 fillets and 1 NY strip - and all were absolutely delicious. For $6 we got the sauce sampler and enjoyed trying all the different ones. The mushroom sauce was our favorite. The au gratin potatoes side is worth the trip alone. Service was great this time, though we still did not like the cocktails. Next time I'll stick with wine. We had eaten at Tiffins a couple of nights before and while we loved our food there (2 of us got steaks, one got veal) we all agreed from a value perspective we enjoyed Steakhouse 71 more. The cuts of meat are better at Tiffins, but for almost twice the price. Also, I don't know what kind of rub Steakhouse 71 is putting on those steaks, but if they bottled and sold it I'd buy a case of it - absolutely delicious!!

I don't watch vloggers but feel like the vast majority of the reviews I've read on this board approve. I'd say it seems like 75-80% approve, 10-15% disapprove, and the rest are sort of meh.

Currently my favorite burger on property. On lunch menu in restaurant and available in lounge during evening hours. SO good. Onion rings also great. Have not yet done breakfast or dinner (in the restaurant).

Breakfast last weekend was good, not great. Omelet was very dry. Steak & eggs - filet was no where near as good as the filet the night before at BOG. Cheesy grits were delicious. GF Mickey waffles were yummy.

I agree. Many Blogs/vlogs seem like paid advertisement for Disney where the person gets a free meal or some incentive so clearly they aren't what I consider objective reviewers. Yelp used to have the dubious practice of manipulating the ways reviewed were shown and attempted to get restaurants to pay them a 'fee' (bribe) to change the sort order. Not sure if they still do that, but stopped using them when I found out about their shady way of operating.

Online reviews tend to be all over the map for most places. People who like to complain seem to always want to bash the place for any number of trivial things. You have no idea if that person is a chronic complainer or perhaps an employee of a competing business trying to make someone else look bad.

We paid out of pocket for Steakhouse71 for breakfast and lunch. Service was exceptional and the manager stopped by to chat. Our meals were excellent. Love the decor. October and November 2021. O'Hana was a disaster as was Chef's de France.

We'll be back in May for our 40th anniversary and have two nights at BLT and eight at BWV. We will try to get two reservations at Steakhouse71 during that time. It's our new fav!

We just ate there last night. Not impressed at all. Tables are so close that the servers behind was either in our face or practically on our table several times while working at other table. Waited over an hour to get entrees. Mine was served cold. Mac n cheese and filet. I was so hungry after waiting I just sucked it up and ate it. Shame because I also read good reviews.

We ate there twice last week breakfast once and one dinner.

I ordered the avocado toast and its served on round melba toast crackers, potatoes on the side, no eggs. I added two eggs to the order. Thought that was strange. The avocado was very good, I just would have preferred regular toast.
My husband got "the feast", he enjoyed it.

For dinner I ordered the chicken with mushrooms and a gravy, parsnip puree too. It was good. I would try something else next time.
My husband ordered the filet with a side of potatoes au gratin. The potatoes were very dry, not cheesy at all. There was a small dollop of a cheese sauce on top of potatoes.

Next time, we are going to try lunch. I want that burger.

We had a very good lunch there. We also had a big booth against the wall for a party of 5, so it wasn't very loud, but maybe the center of the room tables might be.

Have any of you who eaten there ever eaten at the Wave? Does it compare in any way quality/food wise? The menus seem rather similar in a lot of ways

I had breakfast there last week. I did not like it.

1. Seated next to a shrieking toddler. The baby actually hurt my ears.
2. It's an unmagical large room with no windows. Plenty loud.
3. The Florida eggs benedict was not that good. The crab cakes were a little off, and I'm a crab and crab cake gourmand.
4. Service was excellent.

Pretty similar. I've only eaten lunch & dinner at the Wave and breakfast at Steak 71. The Wave meals were delicious, thus we went back. I think Trattoria (in Feb 2021) was as good as Steak 71 (last week) for breakfast, probably better. Trying to get a post-covid breakfast at Topolino for this Feb to compare.

We ate there for dinner about 6 weeks ago. We thought it was fantastic and definitely will be back. We had a wonderful, very knowledgeable server. We had the crab cake appetizer - it was very good, but small for the $$. DH and I both had the NY Strip steak. He got his with mashed potatoes - he said the potatoes were good, but nothing stand out. I had the mac and cheese as my side and it was fantastic. Both our steaks were cooked perfectly. We both got the House steak sauce and it was delicious. For desert we got the chocolate cake and it was phenomenal, but such a huge piece that even with 2 of us digging into it, we couldn only eat about half.

We've eaten several lunches and two dinners at the Wave, and one lunch at Steakhouse 71. Thought the quality and service were comparable, but so disappointed that the Chocolate Flight dessert is gone.

My son went at lunch for his birthday with a bunch of friends. Everyone enjoyed it. My son had the burger and he said it was great, but not his favourite on property. Everyone's taste buds are different.

We loved it. At there 2 weeks ago. The apps were fantastic (bacon & eggs, the brioche, and onion rings), and my steak was delicious. Server was delightful. We are covid-cautious and this was the first place we have eaten indoors since March of 2020. We found the spacing between tables to be right. We were not rushed nor were we forgotten. Great atmosphere. A great way to get back to indoor dining.

We had dinner there a few weeks ago. All got steak, 2 Strips 1 filet. Mine came out room temp at best and was just ok. Filet was much better. The cheesy potato was decent but nothing spectacular. French Onion soup was exceptional. Can't recall if we had drinks or not (did have some at Outer Rim before the meal, very good especially the Bourbon Flight) so cant comment on that, did not have dessert. ...........the biggest impression that the place made on me was how noisy is was, if you are looking for a quiet relaxing meal look elsewhere. This place is on par with Kona although given the choice we would return to Kona before 71.

The reviews I've read have been very good. Being from the midwest, with amazing steak houses, do I go to WDW for steak? NO! We do seafood on the coasts. But, am looking forward to trying this on our next trip based on reviews.
