Is there any reason I shouldn't book through AAA?

I am currently booked for a room only rate through Disney.

I can save 30.00 a night if I go through AAA.

I'm just wondering what I am missing or overlooking.

We have no desire to do the dining plan on this trip if that makes a difference. Thanks so much for your opinions.

When you call to make your ressie with Disney, just ask if there is a AAA discount available. They set aside a certain number of rooms for certain discounts, so if one is available you will get it. We are booked for mid-May room only & save 10% off with AAA. The only reason I wouldn't go through AAA directly is that they control your ressie so you would have to go through the AAA TA to make any changes or make room requests or anything else pertaining to your ressie. Just call CRO & ask about a AAA discount!

I use AAA for all my WDW trips and actually all vacas we take and love them ! Always get a hefty discount, very good service and they are very disney knowledgable. I would not hesitate to try them out camdensmom. good luck!

We've booked many through AAA including our next one, have had nothing but great trips through them.

I love the idea of having AAA behind me, should anything somehow go wrong.

We booked with AAA and saved $1000.00 thanks to the travel agent. However I have heard some people who have had bad experiences with them. I would sugest that if you talk to an agent and it seems like you know a lot more than them change agents. If you are from the toledo ohio area I have a great one. Just P.M.

We book through AAA. We have had one bad experience, but like a PP said, If you don't like that travel agent, ask for another one. I like AAA because I buy the package with the dining plan and you can't get the discount on the room through disney on a package. The only thing that I don't like is the AAA technically "owns" the reservation. You cannot call the reservation directly and confirm or ask for any requests. The AAA agent has to do that for you. I am in Southern Indiana and have a great rep. PM if you are in this area.

We book AAA room only and I love the freedom of changing dates, adding days, etc. When we booked with an agent on our first trip I felt total out of control. We also did not have a very disney savvy agent. I think if you find a good agent you will be happy but do not settle for who is assigned to you. It may make planning miserable. :)

We have our trip planned for July. If we use AAA we will save $300 which is great. Now the problem. We have a special needs son, we call to check rooms, etc. I dont know if AAA will be able to do that. I am unsure if I will be comfortable with them taking care of that for us. I would love the $300 but am not sure losing control of the reservation will work for us. Anyone have this experience...needing a handicapped access room with joining room? I know they can't guarentee joined rooms anyway but we have never had a problem and I call the week before and then the day before. I wont be able to do this.......

There is a difference in booking through AAA and using the AAA discount and booking with Disney. In my experience the price is the same with either way. So I prefer to book though Disney and get the AAA discount becasue it gives you more control over your reservation if you need to make a change. If you book through AAA you would have to call an AAA travel agent to make any changes or adjustment to your reservation. May not seem like a big deal until you have to do it.

At the very least make sure you make your own ADRs

I have been debating this as well. My only questions are the following: It is easier to cancel through Disney directly than with a AAA package, if that need would arise? Are the "perks" that you get by booking a AAA package worth it? Mainly the dining discount card and preferred parking. We will be driving and often drive to the parks instead of taking the bus.

I originally had a room-only AAA discount through Disney and was awaiting and awaiting April codes...last week I finally gave up on an April code that would be better than free ticket upgrade (we don't need the upgrade as we don't plan to hop or go to water parks), so I called AAA to book the package. This way I STILL get the AAA discount, plus I could add the dining, which I know will save us SOME cash, not huge amount, I know dining isn't as great as it used to be, but it's still good.

I'm VERY happy with our AAA agent. She seems to know Disney well, is patient with all my requests and very gracious. She offered to make ADRs for me, but I had already done this, and I wouldn't have let her, anyway, because I'd feel more comfortable calling at 7am instead of leaving it until she comes to work.

Now, here's the problem. She works 10-6, M-F. This week these GREAT AP rates have come out, that would actually still save me $$$, even figuring in the cost of the AP, PLUS I could keep my DDP, but she can only call for me 10-6, M-F. So far, we haven't been able to apply anything, but I wish I could call a few times today and tomorrow, or every day at 7am, to check if availability has opened up. But I can't call Disney directly about my ressie. In the long run, this might make no difference whatsoever, but my anxiety is slightly increased over it.

Just my thoughts, I could be (probably am) crazy.

We have booked with AAA with very good results and saved us a lot of money. Very Disney-knowledgable agent. We still make our own ADRs even though our TA offerred too do it, because I like to have the flexibility on the phone with WDW Dining and then the confirmation number in hand. Plus, we have a child with food allergies and WDW now gives a direct line to the particular restaurant chef to talk to about same beforehand, which is a tremendous thing for us and families like us with food allergy issues.
