Is there any hope for CS at DHS?

We are planning lunch at SciFi (I am suggesting burgers and shakes for everyone) but I am wondering if there is a decent counter service place for dinner? Leaning toward Pizza Planet but would like to get opinions on good/bad experiences at other places?

Rosie's it's directely across from Beauty & The Beast! We always go there.

We will not ever go to the ABC Commissary again...We have been twice and both times it let usdown big time...The food was not good at all...We actually all left hungry the last time we went and had to get something else to eat a little while later because none of us could eat our food...The 3 year old would nbot even eat his chicken fingers because they were so bad...Hands down, the worst food experience we have had at Disney...

We eat at Pizza Planet once and actully liked it...We liked that on the dining plan that the meal combo included a small but good side-salad and individual pizza along with the dessert...It was a pretty good meal...And this is coming from New Yorkers that love pizza...It was not the best pizza we have ever had but it was decent and we enjoyed eating outside in the courtyard area...We have nice memories of that meal, unlike ABC...We did not go inside with the kids because we did not want to get stuck watching the kids play the games...We would go back again.

the Backlot Express and Catalina Eddies. The Backlot Express has a great grilled turkey sandwich and Catalina Eddies serves a decent pizza and a tasty sub. I would only go to Rosie's if I hadn't had burgers for lunch. It's always nice to mix things up.

No...truthfully, we think they are all awful. We usually go back to the resort on the Studios day around noon for pool time and eat at the snack bar by the pool and then have dinner at Mama Melrose with the Fantasmic Package. If we absolutely had to eat at the Studios for a counter service, we would do Backlot Express. But none of the others will we eat at.

What about Starring Rolls? On our HS day we are going to Boma for an early breakfast, then BB until about 1pm, then to HS for the rest of the afternoon/evening. We have an ADR for PT50's for dinner at 6:30.

So even with a big breakfast at Boma, it will be really early, and we'll need a little something to tide us over until dinner. Would Starring Rolls be good for a light lunch, maybe a sandwich and dessert to share? We will be on the DDP.

Even though it does not seem to get good reviews on here, my family and I enjoy the ABC Commissary and have never had a bad meal there.

We usually do Pizza Planet for cs at DHS. It's not the greatest, but it's fine for us. We usually split two of the combo meals between the 4 of us.

I think Starring Rolls is fabulous. The sandwiches are enormous and the chips are the kettle cooked ones so they are really crunchy. I think DHS CS's are awful but this place was a nice treat. They have turkey or ham sandwiches on yummy artisan bread, good pastries and coffee/sodas. They are much better than any CS location in DHS.

Backlot Express is pretty good. Our favorite CS in DHS is Toy Story Pizza Planet, but the last I knew they are only open until 4pm. Good luck!

My family ate here too and we all thought it was good. We ended up here because it has veggie burgers, but everyone found something they liked. I really don't understand how people say that there is no good CS at DHS...sure it might be a little greasier or soggier, but what do you expect at a theme park? Try Rosies - it was pretty good.

That is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear -- thank you! :goodvibes I was hoping for a CS lunch that we could split so it's more of a substantial "snack". Gotta make sure I have room to eat all my veggies at PT a few hours later :rotfl2:

I've heard the coffee at the Writer's Stop was a bit better than the typical Disney Nestle fare -- or is it the same ol'? Looks like Starring Rolls serves Nestle. And I've also heard that SR also sometimes has the grapefruit cake they serve at Brown Derby...been wanting to try that :)

I split it with my father, who is a real eater and we were both satisfied.

We never understand what people have against Pizza Planet. We have eaten there on all 4 of our trips and always enjoy it.

I would rather leave the park hungry than eat at Backlot Express.

They never get the order right, and then it takes 20 minutes to flag someone down just to correct it.

Thanks for all the replies. Starring Rolls sounds great but it looks like it closes at 4:00. According to the menus it looks like Pizza Planet is open later (I think it said 8:00) so it looks like we will stick to that.

I really to avoid eating at DHS if it means eating CS. I've given ABC Commissary a try twice and found it disgusting both times. Pizza Planet is probably the best CS in DHS and even then, I wasn't really a fan.
