Is there a whale in the tank at Coral Reef?

No. I don't think its big enough... I don't think there are any whales in WDW, just Sea World...they have a dine with Shamu dinner.

i think the biggest fish in there is a shark... no whales in disney as far as i know.

Thats what I thought, but when I googled it for pics one of them showed a whale in the tank. Thought it was odd, so I figured I would check. Thanks

Not anywhere near big enough for a whale. Even the sharks aren't huge. Plus, like dolphins, they need to be able to surface and dive and the tanks just aren't big enough. Where did Google take you for the pic?

Maybe it was a manatee you saw.

No, no whales. There aren't dolphins either, although there are dolphins at the seas. They have sharks and sea turtles as well as stingrays and other assorted fish.

There are dolphins in the neighboring tank (or at least one)..you can (could) see it when riding Nemo.

There are manatees (at least temporarily) in the tank. Also there are dolphins, but they are kept separate from the sharks. And the real reason is the dolphins would actually kill off the sharks.

Not sure how that happened. Double post.

I would love to see the pic though.

I just now googled "coral reef epcot" for images...the 3rd one is a coral reef pic with shamu...I'm guessing photoshopped. If you click it, the site is called "Disney Lies"

I think it depends on what the party before you ordered;)

You mean you can't believe everything you read on the internet?! Does this mean I also can't REALLY change my ipod from black to white by putting jetdry on it and putting it in the microwave? And that Elvis actually doesn't live in Montana? Everything I know is a LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:

If you go and look at the original website, it's all photoshopped Disney pictures meant as a joke.

I don't think there is -- I'm sure during our tours someone would have pointed that particular fact out & I don't think it's anywhere near a big enough tank for a whale.

But but but! There' always a dreaded but! :)... if you want to get technical .... beluga whale's are about the size of dolphins so I would think they would be fine, but I don't think that's the kind of whale that you originally had in mind. :rotfl2:

Cheers,

There's no whales that's true but not sure if the statement that it's not big enough is true.

The Georgia Aquarium is billed as the largest salt water aquarium in the world and it's 6.3 million gallons and it has a Whale shark.

Chicago's Shedd aquarium has Baluga whales and it's only 3 million gallons.

Disney's Seas is 5.7 gallons.

Shamu is an Orca....while refered to as a "killer whale" it's actually part of the dolphin family and is not a whale at all.

No, there are no whales. There is a ginormous grouper that is bigger than the little sharks, but no whales.
