Is there a trick to get free upgrades at CGrand

We will be going in Sept, Staying at Grand. Was just wondering if there were any way of getting free room upgrades? If so how did you folks do it? Do you have to book through Disney to recieve an upgrade? (if so I'm out of luck).

I doubt anyone has a system, but I do think it will depend upon how full the place is.

We booked in March for a June stay. We were informed at check in, without asking, that we had been upgraded from a standard view to a pool view. I have no idea how full the hotel was.

With our last four Disney (WDW and DLR combined) trips, we received free upgrades w/o asking on 2 trips, and those 2 trips happened to be the ones where we booked months in advance. We booked the other 2 trips about a month in advance and received the room we booked. I have no idea if this is coincidence or a real connection.

The only thing I've heard about free upgrades is if they over book your room type.....
