Is there a time of year that you cannot take off from work?

We can't take off Sept/Oct due to ou annual convention....we can take a day, but nothing longer. To me, this is THE BEST time of year, I so wish we could travel to New England in the fall.

We can't take off the end of August and most of September usually, because our annual convention in October, too much last minute stuff to get ready for the conferance. Starting about 2 weeks before the convention, it's okay again, because in my department, most of the work is done even though the convention hasn't started yet.

In fact I picked my wedding date due to my convention last fall, I wanted to wait until after it was over so I was 100% sure I'd get the days off for the honeymoon!

I can't take off at the beginning of any semester. Which means, the first two to three weeks of January, the last 2 weeks of August, or well, this week. :teeth:

Yep, September through the middle of December. I'm a CSR for a greeting card company and we're too busy that time of year (seasonal cards and calendars). So...unless I quit my job of 15+ years, I will never be able to attend MNSSP.

my husband works in the legislature and it is in session from January until July - so we can't go on vacation until August-December. Then is seems like we have vacations every month. It's funny, b/c I always get comments at work about taking "so many vacations", like "weren't you just on one?" but what they don't realize is that for eight months, I'm working straight with no vacations, so yes, I'm taking one in August, October and November.

The last week of the year (yearly inventory) and the entire month of February (exteral auditors in my office for the entire month).

Also the first week of every month as have to supervise the close of the A/P, A/R, and payroll departments.

I am stuck working constantly Memorial Day to Labor day as it is beer time. (So DD is ripped out of school for family vacations.) I have worked 4th of julys and random memorial/ labor days for the last 7 years so ya get used to it.

I can't take off the end of any month because I do real estate settlements and that is when most settlements are.

My husband can not take off from mid August through September because he works for Staples and that is Back To School season. Then again, from mid November until January for the holiday season.

Before when I was a sales consultant, I could not take off any vacation days and not a Saturday January through March. I also could not take any vacation days the week of Thanksgiving through Christmas, although I was allowed to take off a Saturday. Now that am behind the scenes, I don't think the Thanksgiving through Christmas rule still applies to me, but the January-March one does.

I used to work for a health insurance company that you weren't allowed to take off any of the month of December as it is the busiest time of the year with renewals and things like that. And we are planning our trip to Disney the week after Thanksgiving into the first week of December. So for that, and many other reasons, I found another job. This one has no restrictions but I still feel bad taking off the end of the month because it's so crazy around here at that time!

Can't take off January 1st-April 15th (Tax Season). In January/February it's even impossible to take a couple of hours off unless it's a dire emergency.

October and November. That's our crazy busy time. But that's also the time I make the most money!

I am too busy in January to take any vacation. I also don't like to take vacation at the very beginning and very end of the month.

I should add that because of our publishing schedule I also can't take off the first half of the following months: Feb, April, June, August, Oct and Dec.

DH cant take vacation from March to the end of September. He is gone racing all summer so we take family vacations during the school year. I dont like pulling them out of school, but its off season everywhere for prices and crowds!

August and September is the busiest time for me at work. My boss almost had a heart attack when I told him I was taking a week off in September. Sorry, but that's when free dining is, and I want to go! I am not going to let my job control my life. They'll be fine without me for a week.

I work in Corporate Disaster Recovery. Due to Hurricane season, I cant take off from August to October!
No Free food for me! :sad2:

Dh is a teacher and can't miss work from mid-August to mid-June. That means our vacations have to be scheduled during late June to mid-August.

When I entered that new Disney sweepstakes this morning, I noticed that travel dates are set for Oct. 1--4th. Dh would probably not be able to miss work if we won. He is off for a Jewish holiday that Monday, but he wouldn't be allowed to take off Tuesday & Wed. because they have a strict policy about missing a day that would extend a 3 day weekend. (I know I'm probably not going to win, so I'm not going to worry about it much! :) )

Dh cannot take off during the months of May and November due to ratings periods for television stations.

I'm pretty much able to take off whenever I please, except I have to work one summer (Memorial Eve or Day, 4th of July Eve or Day, Labor Eve or Day) holiday and one winter (Thanksgiving Eve or Day, Christmas Eve or Day, and NYE or NYD) holiday.

Not too restrictive...although we never get to go anywhere for Memorial Day weekend...it would be nice if we could.
