Is there a thread for people selling their house?

I FINALLY have a showing today!!!! I am so happy that at least someone wants to come see my house!

Kristine

Yay!!!! Here's hoping they'll love your house and make a decent offer!!!!

I haven't posted for quite awhile on this thread. We've been busying moving across country, getting youngest daughter settled into her dorm, and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first grandchild. Just a bit going on here!:rotfl:

Our house is still on the market (four months) and there has not been much interest. The good news is that we have a second showing today. We are trying not to get too excited, because anything can happen. We've had people call the agent and never show up. None of our open houses have generated much interest, and in a few cases, nobody came. However, this is the first time we've had a second showing.

It's kind of weird to be living on the other side of the country while our house in Maine is still for sale. Best case scenario would have been to sell the house before we moved, but we were on a tight schedule and just couldn't wait for that to happen. Who knows how long it'll be until the house sells.:confused3

Here's some pixie dust and best wishes for everyone trying to sell a house!pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

luv, we had a couple of double showings, but as soon as the house was empty, we got the offer. I think staging is over rated. Good luck to you! And welcome to AZ.

:yay: I hope your showing goes well.

About two weeks since my last showing. Amazing how when we first listed we were swamped with showings and now we're at a dead stop.

I cleaned the whole house today just in case.....:wizard: throw some pixie dust my way PLEASE...

Thanks for the welcome! So far, we are loving Tucson! So much to do, so much to see, and so many places to eat!:cool1:

I hope the same holds for us, as far as the empty house goes.:)

A young couple that were pre-approved came thru the house last week-end. Now they want to come thru again with the parents. They are looking at 3 houses. Even though ours is probably the smallest, it has the best curb appeal. Here's hoping!!!:goodvibes

Here is what happened to us yesterday.

4:25- got a call for a showing at 4:30...no problem the kids and I just drove around for a bit before going home

7:15- got a call for a second showing (same people) at 7:30, now mind you, by this time we were "in" for the night, DS was in the tub....rush, rush, rush to get out of the house on time.

8:25-got a call, this time from OUR agent...thought it would be good news. No the other agent and the buyers got hung up and never made it back for the 7:30 showing...can they come...oh in...5 MINUTES. This time DS had been put back in the tub (unfinished from before) and DD was in the shower. Rush, rush, really rush...got out just as they were pulling in front of the house.

I thought, surely this meant something good. We went so far out of our way to get out multiple times. The Karma Gods might actually be shining down on us!

NOOOOOOOOOPE! Today, got feedback report that the buyers made a decision last night to go with another house, even though they admitted our house was #1 on their list because.....wait a second....they "went with the sure thing" because they "really don't like stress". They went with a house they didn't like as much because they thought they wouldn't have to negotiate with this other house. HUH? Isn't there always a negotiation of some sort? We would have done whatever it took to get the contract and our agent told the other agent we were motivated. They didn't even give it a chance.

I am so beyond frustrated right now. We get the showings and have been the "bridesmaid" so many times now I'm sure I must have 27 Dresses in my closet. Is there a pulling your hair out smilie?....oh this will do:scared1: :scared: :scared1: :scared: :scared1: :scared:

Sorry just had to vent

Maddiemom, I hope the other sellers don't accept the offer and force them into negotiations.

What idiots. I am so sorry.

I agree in some respects, but then I kind of wish that the other sellers don't accept their offer, they decide not to counter but withdraw and then make us an offer. But then again...maybe I don't want to deal with the "sress" that they might bring to the whole process!!

Here's hoping the holiday weekend brings increased traffic to all! Wishful thinking I know but we can hope anyhow!

Wow Maddiemom that stinks. We've had similar spur of the moment showings too and I find it quite frustrating. The worst one was I went out the front door to find the realtor with his client parked in the driveway on the cell phone with my agent. I just shrugged my shoulders and said go on in but if you find a mess don't blame me I wasn't prepared. I think alot of people just go looking for curiosity.

Well we are making an offer tomorrow on a Spec house. Don't know if they come to meet our price. We are lowballing, but not really considering the market and the neighborhood, it is under construction.

Have to go for it though.:thumbsup2

I am not getting my hopes up. :upsidedow

Good luck! Nothing wrong with trying to get a good deal. Hey, we were lowballed on a house 5 years ago in a great sellers market. It is all about both sides trying to come to an agreement that is acceptable.

We think we can meet in the middle and pretty much think we know their number. It is a house we have been targeting for 4 months.

We will see....:scared:

That stinks! I hope people find buyers soon and the whole situation improves.

Oh yea...selling our last house they just knocked on the door.

Oh yea...selling our last house they just knocked on the door.

I love stories like that! How I long for the good ole days!!! Four years ago agents used to knock on doors in our neighborhood asking people to sell.

We've always sold houses in bad times (when mortgage rates were 18% etc.) but this is absolutely the worst! Yesterday we had a call for a showing in 1 hour and as usual, they never showed.....no word of course and we ended up ruining our Labor Day cookout plans.

I am so tired of all this and no end in sight with DH refusing to lower the price. We are trying not to argue but the stress is tough! I know it will all eventually work out (with DH retired too and far fewer $$$ in our pockets) but the waiting is very rough.

Thinking of all out there in the same boat (no pun intended).

It seems as though now it is not enough stress just to be trying to sell our home....now we have Hurrican Hanna headed straight for us. Nice. That ought to really help bring in more buyers:sad2:

Well you know, we just need more stress.:scared:

I have had to actually sit there and meditate to calm myself. It does help.

I don't think our house offer or counter for that matter is going to work. Oh well....in the apartment we sit until.....;)

Not a single showing for us. :sad2: We're coming up on 60 days and getting ready to drop our price. From all indications, home buying doesn't pick up again until Spring. :scared1:

I am having a hard time with this and we aren't even living in the house. That really stinks what you went through only to have them make the offer on the other house!
