Well, it's nearly over. The closing is scheduled for Tuesday, 11 August at 1:00. It was originally scheduled for Friday the 7th, but the lawyer was "unavailable" until Tuesday. I figure he decided to take a long weekend since we finally have several nice days in a row!

Back to plantlady and others regarding your being at your home during the inspection-we had to leave. The inspector was hired by the buyers and since we had no realtor, we were NOT allowed to remain at the house. Interesting. Didn't matter, they didn't find anything drastic. Had to put it a couple of ground fault receptacles, and put the dehumidifier in the basement for a few days until the weather cleared out.

Well I get to join this fun thread now. We are moving to Florida in October so I put our home on the market last week. So far we have had two lookers...one was today. No offers yet.

I ordered at St. Joseph statue from the net and will bury him as soon as he arrives. Hopefully he will help us out!

It's done. I should have reported this on the 11th, but forgot! The closing took place ok, since we were only selling our house and a portion of the property we (along with the closing agent) to pay our part of the remaining property taxes at closing by giving 2 separate checks (for the two payment dates) to the buyer. Not sure if that was the smart thing to do or not, but it's done. Now the best part - the buyer had a realtor, who basically did nothing but call her when she saw our for sale by owner sign in the yard. After the closing the realtor drove to the house and put HER sign up in the yard that said SOLD! What an unprofessional person! I've already mentioned it to a couple of real estate folks who say that's very poor behavior, but whatever, not worth losing any sleep over. At any rate, it's all behind us and we got the amount we wanted.

Hi everyone. Getting so excited. We close on our old house and new house on Friday. I am so tired of boxes everywhere - just can't wait for it all to be done. So, excited for the new neighborhood. We are moving 2 doors down from some really good friends of ours (went to Disney together this year). Their 2 kids and our 2 kids are best friends and go to the same private school together. We also know about 3 other families in the neighborhood and they are all so nice and fun. Can't wait to move in. Lots of kids for my kids to play with too. Let's hope the closings go smooth. Lynn
