Here's the info I have:
"It is a 3-Day Park Hopper ticket for ALL AGES for $99 per ticket. It is going to be for sale 6/16/08 to 8/30/08 at Vons, Safeway, The Disney Store, Military Bases and through authorized vendors.
Restrictions:
Valid for 45 Days after first use.
Must be first used by 8/30/08.
NOT VALID JULY 4TH.
NOT Avaliable at the Disneyland Resort Box Office."

Here are my questions:
1. Can anyone confirm this?
2. Is this only for SoCal residents and/or AP holders?
3. Does it include one MM?
4. Can you upgrade it at the gate to a 4day (before first use)? And if so, how much would that be?

TIA

What is your source for your post?
Is that price for all people or only children? if you happen to be going to one of the stores that you listed, ask the manager. I will keep my ears and eyes open, for that would be a great price for 3 days.

Must be first used by 8/30/08.
did you mean before that time?

I'vr heard about it from a few sources. I believe it is legit.

Thank you for that clarification, but seeing how I live in Northern California, I can forget about that special, that is really very annoying to me, for I would prefer to spend $99.00 for the same 3 day park hopper ticket, that will cost me $169.00, you know that is really biased of Disney to do that.
Also annoying is knowing that admission cost more this year from last, for example, when I visited Dl last April I had purchased the 3 day park hopper ticket, for $119.00, this year the same ticket is $169.00 and that is suppose to be a special price, it may be,however not for me, when you see the huge difference in price, and then insult upon injury, the before mentioned summer pass.

The tickets from last April were the winter/spring promo, "everyone pays kids price". The current $169 price is the regular pre-purchase price, up $10 from last year. So Cal residents are often offered discounted tickets in order to get them to the park. Offering 3-days for $99 will get some residents to the park during the summer, a time many avoid due to So Cal AP blockouts and/or crowd levels. I live in Northern CA too, so I would love to get some of the offers, but understand Disney's reasons for only offering them to some.

Well I suppose that is just how it is.It would be nice though, if some of those So. Ca. offers extended further out, up in our area, some of the time. Now that would be great! :)

If you buy one of these tickets at Vons, do you need to show So Cal ID when you purchase it? (I live in Northern CA, but could I go to a So Cal Vons on my arrival day and buy one there?)

If I am able to purchase one, will I need to show ID when I get to the gate?

Will it have MM/EE?

Proof of residency required for admission.

Sorry mate, that won't work, otherwise I would do the same thing. However it is a nice idea! :)

Ok, people, I already read the requirements. What I am asking is how strictly are they followed by non-Disney employees?

Will people at Von's really check for ID? Obviously they will if I bought these tickets at the Disney ticket booths, but will grocery store clerks?

And if they VOns clerk don't check, do the people at the turnstyles check? Or do they assume that once the tickets are bought, ID has been checked, and everyone is ok?

Do you have to be a SO Cal resident to BUY AND USE the ticket, or just to BUY it?

I can see the ticket police starting to come out, so before you do, how is buying tickets such as these, if you are not a SO CAL resident, any different than buying Gay Days tickets at their discount price when you will not be attending the Gay Days weekend?

When we've bought our 2fer tickets through Vons they've never asked us for our IDS.. Even coming through the turnstiles they've never asked us..

It does say that proof of residency is required for admission which means that they could check it to admit you (I don't know if they actually do or not). I believe that it would say proof of residency is required for purchase if the residency check was being done at the purchase point.

You have to be a SoCal resident to USE it, although possibly not to BUY it. Safeway won't check your ID but Disneyland will.

Thanks all for the clarifications.

I would probably not have the guts to try anyway, but I figured getting some first hand advice wouldn't be bad.

So I guess the next question is to ask 2fers ticket holders how often they were asked for ID upon entry.

Everytime we've used our 2fers (about 4 times), especially this last trip (we used them to upgrade to our APs) they never asked.. I'm not promoting trying if your not a SoCal resident, but from experience they have never asked us.

This is interesting.. Has anyone else been asked?

We were planning on getting a two-day park hopper in July. Now we will definitely get this deal!

I personally would worry about being asked for proof of residency, for if you are, and you are not, then what? for either you will be out the money, or you will need to find someone that will be willing to pay for the tickets.

I know Diseny does SoCal specials all the time. My SIL lives near me, NorCal, and her SIL lives in SoCal and purchases their tickets for them with her ID, she has NEVER been asked to show her ID. The requirements listed said 8 tickets per person per day, what if you are buying for a visiting friend? We went for a day in February 2002. My DSS and his mom came along, the live in SoCal, I gave her money, she bought my ticket at DL while I was standing at the ticketbooth with her. She gave me mine, we went to the turnstiles (sp?), again, no ID checked.

I honestly dont think they are going to stop anybody at any turnstile and check your ID for your ticket. Like I said before, what if that ticket was a gift? Are they going to make you go back and pay and extra $60 for it??

That is my question also.

If you can buy 8 tickets, are you only allowed to give those 8 tickets to So Cal residents for them to use? Well, then why didn't those So Cal residents just buy their own? (Obviously I understand parents buying for their kids.)

I think it still comes down to past experiences of those with 2fers or other So Cal special tix.
