Is there a Strategy to maximize lightning lane for one day starting at DL with park hopper somewhere?

Taking my wife to DL next week for the first time in a while. We had passes before years ago so we kind of just did whatever. But now we are going in the first time in a few years for one day, and we got the lightning lane multi pass. I was hoping to find some strategy guide to maximizing our rides if starting in DL. We both love rise of the resistance and in the past always did that first. But neither of us have used lighting lane before. Any help is appreciated.

You might have better responses if you post this in the Disneyland section. People there are more knowledgeable about all things Disneyland.

I don’t have strategy, but just some comments about Lightening Lane pass, having used it this holiday season in busy parks.

It worked great because the app and Genie planning capabilities are amazing. I personally think the app took a long time to really be perfected. This trip, we were amazed at how they’ve got the artificial intelligence working overtime. We’d check for available times for attractions we wanted and maybe think naw, not good, and then checking back after a bit, voila, there would be availability to suit our needs.
This happened over and over so that at the end of the day, we were constantly busy, and always busy doing things we really wanted to do.

Love the Lightening Lane pass, love the app, and loved our DL vacation. I hope it goes great for you, too!

There are two types of Lightning Lanes passes:
  1. Lightning Lane Multi-Pass (used on multiple attractions)
  2. Lightning Lane Single-Pass (purchased for an individual attraction)

Rise of the Resistance is a LLSP ride in that you need to purchase a separate Lightning Lane Pass specifically for that ride. The other LLSP ride is Radiator Springs Racer in Carsland in DCA.

Rise of the Resistance isn't usually open at 8 am. I believe it opens closer to 8:15-8:30 am

Or sometime after 6:00 p.m., as it did the first day I was at Disneyland last month... 😢

SteveMP, I don't know whether this has been your experience at WDW, but at DL, Rise goes up and down a lot. Probably at WDW, too, since it's the same ride. So have a backup plan if it's down when you wanted to do it.

I will say that the LLSP was very nifty; I walked right on to the ride. Granted, that was at a slow time (early November), but still, the pass must also help a lot on more crowded days. If you want to do standby, I've seen comments on this forum about the lines being shorter mid-evening.
