Is there a reason why servers don't like the DDP?

You're not completely limited to certain drinks. If you want an alcoholic beverage, you can buy one. Plenty of adults on the DDP purchase themselves a drink with their meals. (You'll be charged the automatic 18% gratuity for anything you purchase out of pocket, too.)

Yeah I know all that, but if someone is NOT on the dining plan, its super easy for the server. The people can order whatever they want, and pay however they want. If they are on the dining plan, the server would have to make sure the kids ordered kids meal, if alcohol is ordered, ask how they wish to pay for that, etc, ETC. Its easy to see someone paying OOP would be easier for the server.
