Is there a reason why Disney phone lines are so busy today (Aug. 1)?

So, I've been on hold for over 90 min. now and I'm just curious if anyone has a clue why today would be such a busy day for the Disney phone lines-- free Disney dining window just open up? 3 or 6 month window for some special event? some new restaurant that I'm not aware of? :scratchin :confused3 I've been on hold this long for Christmas and Easter break reservations, and the opening of new restaurants, but that's about it. :confused: We got our itinerary in the mail and Magical Express details are goofed up. I was trying to get it straightened out before I leave for Denver tomorrow since our trip is just a few weeks away.

Okay, I'm now hearing round 2 of the music loop. :rolleyes1 :dance3::yo-yo: :bored:popcorn:::rotfl:
 
Yes, FD just opened up today for end of September 29 to December 22.

I would call Magical Express directly at 1-866-599-0951, they should be able to correct any flight info.

It's been crazy all day. Disney released free dining and room only discounts for fall today. I was on hold for 2 hours tonight, finally got thru and lucked out on a discount. Some had reported waiting over 5 hours earlier today!!!

Sure wish I had posted my question here earlier. I could have skipped the 121 min. phone call! :rolleyes2 The CM told me to call that number, too. I would have done that originally, but I wasn't sure if they'd be able to help me, since I wasn't even listed on our itinerary. They only had my husband listed for Magical Express. (We're flying down on separate flights, using up some frequent flyer miles with 2 different airlines, so that's probably what goofed things up.) Anyway, it's all straightened out now.

So it was a new free dining window today, eh? Well, I hope everyone that called in got the free dining and resort that they wanted. I sure picked a heck of a day to call! :upsidedow

That's what I read too. I'm glad I have unlimited voice on my cell, but I don't think my battery would last long enough for me to wait that long. :sad2:
 
I talked to a CM today who mentioned the phone system crashed because of the volume of calls. I couldn't even get through this morning, each attempt was met with a message stating all lines were busy.
 
Thankfully I called exactly at 7 this morning and got right through. By the time the CM and I were done he told me there were 390 people on hold and this was at 7:10 AM

I started looking online at 7am and then things went to crap and I started calling and then finally at 11:30am I got through and spoke to someone to book my ressie.
