Is there a Project Runway thread? (does anyone watch it?)

I thought Daniel had a much better collection, but yes I think the model tripping on the brown dress hurt him. When they showed it they also showed Michael making a face and saying something.

I think they also took Daniel's age into account. I liked the way Michael pretty much offered him a job. He'll be a success no matter what he does.

I was SOOOOOOO glad to see Santino eliminated first. Nick really should have been in the final 3 not Santino!

I thought Daniel should have won, just like Vettechick said, I could see myself in his pieces, especially that white coat thing......Chloes were a bit too much for me, I hate her heavy fabrics. I likes when they were unloading their collections into their new work room and Santino's confessional says something like "it looks like Chloes going to pull out a couch". Hysterical and right on the money.

Maybe she turned the dress down because it smelled like a pack of cigarettes. I can't imagine why Jay would smoke around clothing he plans to sell. Yuk!
I hadn't thought about that, but I did notice he smoked pretty constantly on the Project Jay show. I would not want to wear anything that smelled like an ashtray.

I kind of wondered if Michael voted for Chloe to win so he could offer Daniel a job. I think his collection was incredible for someone so young, who is pretty much just out of school.

I was also glad to see Santino out of it. Some of his individual dresses were nice, but it wasn't a collection really.

I thought Santino's collection just smashed Daniel and Chloe's. I was really disappointed by Daniel's, by the way, who--up until that point--I had thought would be the winner. I didn't get the theming in his clothes either and didn't find them attractive. His improvisations on the show were so much better. Maybe he was trying too hard? I'm not sure if the model tripping made any difference---the bottom line was that Daniel had the weakest collection by far. I think the fact that they left him in the final two made for more suspense, since he was favored to win before the finale. Santino clearly had a better collection than Daniel did.

I was also disappointed in Chloe's collection--but I was never that into her style to begin with. I agree that she's more of a "pattern-maker" than a creative designer--the fact the comment hurt her feelings so much probably indicates that she fears this, too. (Not to be mean, but it's not like any of them are going to read our thread!) Obviously, I didn't condone that Santino said it out in the open like that either.

By the way, what was Debra Messing's background in fashion? I find it surprising that she liked Chloe's stuff so much--it seemed to sway the decision overall. I didn't get the sense that she had much experience. I thought Chloe's collection looked kind of silly with the mix of colors and all the puffed sleeves. I had a feeling she won because Daniel's collection was disappointing and all the judges probably disliked Santino--the fact that Messing mentioned that Chloe was "professional" made it obvious that personality was taken into the equation.

Santino's collection made me feel misty-eyed--it was so beautiful. I really can't imagine many fashion aficiandos arguing that his collection wasn't the best. It was gorgeous--wish I could afford it! I'd buy his stuff!

I liked Santino's best, by a small margin. :sunny: Nina gave him lots of compliments as a designer.

Daniel's was good, but I did not see it as a "collection." Curious to see if he accepts Michael Kor's job offer. (I'd be surprised if he didn't.)

Chloe's was very well done, but I was not really inspired. Interesting contrast in design and personality than Jay from last year. (Poor Jay didn't get a car last year. The shows success now = bigger budget and sponsers!.)

I thought it was a closer contest for the final three than last year.

BTW, I watched Top Chef, too. I really liked it, especially when the most obnoxious "chef" was cut first -- true justice!

:sad2: I just feel a knot in my stomach ever since seeing Santino passed over. I don't know why--it's not like I had any preference for any of them personally--I thought Daniel was going to win. But I just loved Santino's clothes so much, so it seemed like the outcome wasn't fair, and I hate that :furious:

I'm a total justice-hound :rotfl2: Guess I've got quite a burden in this world.... ;)

I thought so, too. Loved his dresses. I wasn't really a big Santino fan before the final 2-3 episodes, but I found myself feeling kind of disappointed for him after last night.

Hated Chloe's stuff - I agree with whoever said it reminded them of 80s - especially that pink puffy sleeve thing! Yuck!

I'm bummed the show is over! It was my favorite, which is funny.. since I'm so non-fashion/low-maintenance its ridiculous!

I watched Top Chef, too. Pretty interesting. Looks like that will have to fill the Runway void for me! LOL

Oh good. The are other Santino fans. :goodvibes I felt alone reading the replies about last night's finale.

I liked Santino's collection the best by far. Daniel's seemed very safe. All of his clothes were tailored to the extreme and not adventurous.

Chloe, on the other hand, what was she thinking? Her collection was like a debutante ball on parade. Too shiny. Too poofy. Too girlie. Too Barbie.
But---it was different.

Santino had the right mix. Different, but geared toward a wider audience. I was hoping he would win and was so disappointed when they liked his least of all. My order would have been the reverse: Santino's best, then Daniel, then Chloe.

Oh well. I'm certainly no fashion expert. :teeth:

Missed Top Chef! I'm going to have to Tivo that one. It sounds good. Anyone know if another Project Runway is in the works?

My first pick to win was Santino but IMO no one really brought their best game face to the finale. I thought last years collections were so much better. They were also much more glamourous last year. I thought Daniel's collection was very boring, especially for the runway. I didn't get the bags at all, they were ugly, Tim Gun was right on that one. I just don't see tops and pants as a collection. I was most disappointed in Daniel's collection, I expected so much more from him, he was dull. I didn't really think his last dress fit Rebecca well either. When she tripped on the runway, I thought, that is it, he just lost

I have said all along that they wanted to make sure they didn't have a winner who didn't go along with the contract of the show. I think they know Chloe would honor her obligation to Banana Republic. She is a good designer. I suggest anyone who doubts her talents to go to her website, chloedao.com, some beautiful stuff.

Chloe and her family have a great immigrant story. I also think the fact she was female helped her last night. For some reason, reality shows love to alternate which sex wins.

I will miss Project Runway.

Yes, there will be a Project Runway 3. :cloud9:

That's exactly what I thought! Why is being 'wearable' such a compliment? I want something fun to watch. Art in motion. Something with a point of view. I was mesmerized watching the collections last year. This year, I felt like I was at Talbot's. (No diss on Talbot's. I shop at Talbot's. But I don't TIVO Talbot's)

 Sigh, I know, I loved Santino's dresses, too. I thought the judges were going to be blown away, and then it was like "they didn't fit right" as if that was the end all. I think they just didn't like Santino, and it had something to do with the bigger picture of how the candidate would fit the prize (like what was mentioned about the Banana Republic part of the contract). I remember that the Banana Rep liked Chloe's dress on an earlier episode--maybe Chloe would fit in more there. I still can't believe Daniel didn't win though--I really thought it was going to be him until I saw his collection :confused3

Chloe's dresses reminded me of all of the horrible bridesmaids dresses I was forced to wear in the 80's! :woohoo: No way, no how would I ever wear something like that again.

I had expected so much more from Daniel. I love him as a designer.
I liked his challenge designs better than his collection.

I feel that Santino's creativity had been crushed by the judges. I liked a couple of his pieces.

I can't wait until next season.

Where's Andrae? While I'm not a Santino fan -- way too much ego for one person to have -- his Tim Gunn impersonations are right on target.

At first I loved Santino. Then his "ego" rubbed me the wrong way. Now I'm back to loving him because I realized that deep down he's just a hurt kid. He was ridiculed as a child and has since adpoted this I'll put you down so I seem better thinking. It's classic low self-esteem.

Anyone else need evaulating? ;)

Anyway, I loved his impressions of TG. He had me rolling everytime. Classic!

He's a fabulous designer and I hope he goes far.

I thought Heidi was nice at first, but then it kind of bothered me during the rehash session when she questioned if Andrae was acting with he started crying during a previous episode--and she didn't seem moved at all when they watched the clip and it was obvious he wasn't. I don't know, I didn't like seeing what seemed like a fairly insensitive side of her.

Edited to add: I also thought it was possible that she went for Chloe in the finale because she didn't like Santino. The complaints she had about Santino's collection seemed kind of lame, but that's JMHO. I didn't like that my final impression of the show was that they outed Santino on the basis of personality--but I guess it all has to be taken into consideration. :confused3

I wanted Daniel to win, too. I felt he was amazing all season, even though I agree his designs were a bit too boring in the finale. I felt the judges focused too much on the runway show, when they should have considered the season as a whole. I like Chloe (especially her family and their amazing story of survival) but her comment that she deserved ot win because she is a better businesswoman did not exactly "wow" me. The fact that she is older and experienced (had her own shop) makes her LESS of a deserving winner, IMHO. But I won't cry for Daniel, he is going to work for Michael Kors! That boy will do just fine.

As for Santino, he's a freak, but still I felt they were too critical. There were some stunning pieces in there. I liked Heidi less and less as the season went on. Now I think she is just mean.

Glad to see others watched too!

I agree--Santino is kind of wierd! I guess he's bisexual--which--you know--to me is like live and let live, each to his own--but all his cussing isn't completely attractive (I sincerely hope my son doesn't one day introduce me as the **** on TV :rotfl2: --I'd be so bummed!) But whatever, I thought his collection was the best...but during the earlier episodes I usually liked what Daniel did the best.
