Is there a Project Runway thread? (does anyone watch it?)

I think that either Chloe or Daniel would have fit into the Banana Republic mold. Both can make safe, tailored, classic clothes. I couldn't imagine Jay last year, or Santino this year, being designers for BR. Their styles are just so much more flamboyant than BR's.

I'm not sorry that Chloe won, but I wish it was Daniel... I hope he goes far if he chooses to work for Michael Kors.

I thought Heidi was nice at first, but then it kind of bothered me during the rehash session when she questioned if Andrae was acting with he started crying during a previous episode--and she didn't seem moved at all when they watched the clip and it was obvious he wasn't. I don't know, I didn't like seeing what seemed like a fairly insensitive side of her.

Well, Heidi's German, they're not known for being a sensitive, touchy feely kinda people (I say this having german heritage!).

The way I look at it, Chloe needed to win because she wouldn't be successful on her own-she works from her MOM's GARAGE for cryin' out loud!

Daniel had Michael Kors offering him a job, (I'd be peeing my pants if I was in Daniel's shoes!), and Santino obviously has a gift for navigating the glitterati and schmoozing the rich and famous (look how he talked Nicki Hilton into that goofball dress). So, given the springboard of the show, they'll go off and be semi-famous without any continued help.

Chloe, well, she's pretty rough and rather simplistic with her designs (I can't believe she doesn't sketch!), but can be brought around with the powerhouses at Banana and Tim Gunn.

A lot of Chloe's stuff showed flashes of absolute brilliance, she just doesn't have that taste level inherent in a lot of Daniel's work. Heidi was right about her seam work, though, it was brilliant in many cases.

Man, bring on the next one!

Huh? Wouldn't be successful on her own? She has her own successful clothing store! How is that not successful?

I wonder if her business has picked up since she's been on the show.

According to Time magazine, she's already gotten a call from Bergdorf Goodman. She will do very well designing for the "ladies who lunch" and run the charity circuits.

Chloe's participation in PR2 has been good for business accoridng to yesterday's New York Post (link at bottom)

News on winner of Project Runway

March 13, 2006 -- THE winner of "Project Runway," Chloe Dao, arrived home in Houston over the weekend to find out that all the clothes she designed before the reality series began are now out of stock, according to reports.

Chloe - the 34-year-old Vietnamese-American who fled Southeast Asia in 1979 with her parents and seven sisters - owns a small boutique, Lot 8, in Houston. She sold her clothes there and over the Internet at chloedao.com.

She says she has been so absorbed by the show that she had no time to re-stock her designs.

It will take at least until April before she will have more clothes to sell.

Still, since December when the show began, business at her boutique - which sells other people's designs as well as her own - has doubled, she told the Houston Chronicle.

Chloe, who was something of a surprise winner on the second edition of "Runway," took home a $100,000 grand prize and new car.

Dao says she may be most excited by the new sports car.

"I drive a 1996 [Toyota] Corolla that's so dented, I'm embarrassed to valet it," she told the paper. "I'm excited [because] I get a car I can valet."

My mom ran a 'small boutique' when I was a kid, and no, it definitely isn't the definition of successful! Chloe drove a '96 corolla and lived at home at age 34, those are not trappings of success!

So, yes, I maintain that Chloe had the most to gain by winning, and I'm glad she did! I agree that she'll be a huge hit with the 'ladies who lunch' crowd, and good for her! I don't think Santino would have actually fit in that tiny little Saturn, anyway :rotfl2:
