Is there a passenger drop off at Universal?

My son's HS chorus is going to Orlando for 4 days, 1 day universal and 3 at Disney. The chorus will drive all night and arrival morning will be at Universal. Will not check into any hotels or anything.

Our family is going down a few days early for a family vacation at Disney and stay to hear watch the chorus perform at Disney. We need to meet his chorus on their arrival day at Universal We are going to drive him as we will have our car. He will ride back to Disney with the chorus

Long story short...Is there a place at Universal that we can drop him off near the entrance without having to pay for parking. Or would I be allowed to drop him off at the Royal Pacific and let him catch the boat over. We stayed there last year so he is familiar with how that works. He is a smart responsible kid so I'm not that concerned with him getting to where he needs to be. I would hang out close by until he text me that he is with the group. I'm not comfortable with Lyft or Uber, especially in a unfamiliar town to him.

Just trying to avoid parking fees unless we need to.

You can drop him off at any hotel, no issues there at all.

HRH is slightly closer to Universal than RP, but not by much.

FYI, Orlando Informer said Universal has changed its guest dropoff as of August, 2019. There used to be a dropoff near the taxi area, but now it says this -

If you are being dropped off by a friend or ride-share company, you will be brought to the fifth floor of the north parking garage (in the Jurassic Park section). There is a dedicated lane for this, and no parking fee will be charged to the driver. From there, you will walk over to the main transportation hub, where the security checkpoint is set up.
