Is there a minimum check-in age?

I was looking at the Universal hotels and saw that there is a minimum check in age of 21!! Now I am wondering if Disney does the same thing. I'm 20 so it would suck if they do because then we'd have to stay offsite somehere.

I'm not sure about now but I went with my brother when I was 19 and he was 13 - no parents. We had no problem checking in at POR (then dixie landings).

I got married when I was 17 and my husband was 19. We did a Disney Cruise for our honeymoon (stayed at Port Orleans for the land portion of the trip) and had no problems with our ages. In fact, when we got to our stateroom they had given us free champagne, even though we were a few years underage! LOL

The age is 18. I have the same problem cause I wanted to go with my friends next summer and I'll be the only one 18 by the time that we go. I e-mailed the people at disneyworld.com and asked them. They said you have to be 18 at check-in and you can reserve the trip while your younger, but you have to have your parents/guardians permission to call the number to reserve a room. Hope this helps.

See I am glad of that. I always thought it was screwy to have to be 21 to get a hotel room. What if you are married and both of you are 19 or 20 then what??

I was able to check-in at the Poly when I was 18..and twice when I was 19 with no problem! I wasn't sure if they'd let me check-in the first time, either! But like everyone else has said...you're old enough! :wave2:

I know, I think it's really stupid. I'm glad Disney doesn't have those restrictions.

I also read that some cruise lines only allow 21 and older or you have to be with an "adult."

Just wait until you try to rent a car... Many of the rental companies required that you be 24! (At least that was last time I needed to check age requirements -- many, many, moons ago)

Generally the hotels that I've stayed at that require the guest to be 21 do so because they have a mini bar with alcohol in the room. I know, I know, just don't give the underaged guest a key right? Apparently some hotels aren't willing to take the risk of liability for under aged drinking
