I found the February thread but don't see a March thread. It's been awhile since I've been on here but I'm trying to be good in March (just bought a new vehicle in February!). Thanks!

I haven't seen one, but it seems like you just started it! :)

Goal: 20 Days

2-No Buy #2
3-No Buy #3

I'm new to this so I'll stick to a goal of 10 days for the month of March. I went through my credit card history and determined the following:

Goal: 10 Days
1-Spend
2-No Buy #1
3-Spend
4-Spend
5-Spend
6-Spend
7-Spend
8-Spend

Total: 1/10

I think that's a good starting place. I was a little too ambitious when I started trying last year, so it discouraged me from sticking to it. Now, I have plans I'd like to make in the coming year, so I'm more motivated than ever! :)

I don't really get this - can someone explain the concept to me. I get the idea of not spending money today, but if I spend that money later or buy something on Friday instead of Wednesday where is the savings. Thanks,

Everyone uses it differently. For me in the past (and hopefully in the future because I'm jumping back on), it makes me think before I buy things -- is this something we really need? If it is, you're right, it ends up on the grocery/shopping list later and we spend that money. If it isn't, it usually doesn't and we save that money. I also live a very long way from all of the stores (about 30 minutes) so it also reminds me to group my shopping to make one trip and not waste time and gas driving around.

March! My goal is 12 no buy days, about a third of the month.

Plus I think I have to give up on finding it and call the insurance company. And DH is traveling for two weeks. It was either shoes or cookies. :))

EpiStitch, you're almost halfway there! Leholcomb, you got into Everest! I'm envious. DS12 and I were going to run again this year, but I was going to register us after work, around 4. Silly me. DH checked at about 1:30 and it was sold out by then! I'm not sure who was more disappointed, me or my son. I know the 2015 Princess sold out within about 4 hours too (or was that the Glass Slipper?). I'm supposed to be running the 2016 Glass Slipper -- anxious about being able to get in!! I registered for the 2012 Princess a few days after registration opened (and my sister weeks after!) so it's amazing to me how fast these races are selling out now.

14-I went to a wedding and discovered my nylons had runs, so I bought new ones, which I must have scratched so they had runs too and I wasted $8 :o
15-spend, more necessary stuff at least

We're all about halfway there and today is the 15th, so I think we can all make it this month if we continue our pace!! :yay::drive:

Hi

This will be my first time doing a no buy month (even though I have followed a few) so I am going to start off with a goal of 10 days. I was so good at saving for our trip last year, I really need to get back on track if we are ever going to get back to Disney

1 - No Buy #1
2 - Groceries
3 - Groceries & supplies for a school project (terrarium) for dd1
4 - No Buy #2
5 - Groceries
6 - Drugstore
7 - Gift for my brothers birthday
8 - renew digital magazine subscription & BIG spend on clothes for kids :sad2:
9 - Groceries AGAIN - I realise I am visiting the store too often, I hope I can cut in this area next month
10 - No Buy #3
11 - Groceries & Hair cut and color
12 - We had overnight guests so I needed to buy some wine for dinner
13 - BIG spend on groceries for our Safari Weekend
14 - No Buy #4 (In the bush so no stores = no spend)
15 - No Buy #5 (In the bush so no stores = no spend)
16 - No Buy #6 - was disciplined and delved into my freezer so I didnt go to the store :thumbsup2

I didn't realize that the thread had taken off (for some reason I don't always get notifications.) Anyway, I thought I was doing badly but being new to this, if I try for 10 days this month and we are halfway through, I've had 5 "no spend" days which is actually pretty good for me. So maybe this will be motivation to do MORE than 10 days in March (and hopefully even more in April). April will be hard because it's my 10 year anniversary and Easter but we'll deal with that when it gets here!

3/1-no spend
3/2-no spend
3/3-no spend
3/4-spend (paint and dinner)
3/5-no spend
3/6-spend (birthday cake for my dh)
3/7-spend (groceries)
3/8-spend (spring clothes for my dd)
3/9-spend (spring clothes for my dd)
3/10-no spend
3/11-spend (supplies for consignment sale, lunch)
3/12-spend (groceries)
3/13-spend (lunch)
3/14-spend (groceries, lunch)
3/15-spend (dessert)
3/16-spend (lunch)

I've had several work friends invite me to lunch recently but that should lighten up for the rest of this month. And we should be set on groceries (except milk and bread). So here's hoping to a lot more "no spend" days!
