Hi All - We are new owners - getting ready for our FIRST trip home to AKL Villas!!! :goodvibes

I'm trying to compile a list of what to bring - (we'll be in a 1BR) I'm having NO luck at all finding an existing list - so, here is what I have so far - am I forgetting anything (LOL) Please add what else you think we should bring to store in our owner locker!! OR let me know what is already there that I don't need to bring!!

Are the coffee cups at AKV small? I think the coffee cups are for people who don't really drink coffee. AND the glasses to drink juice, even smaller<G>.
I would store your own coffee mugs and decent sized cups to drink water/juice. OR buy Disney mugs and cups ;)

Tums, Pepto Bismol, Imodium come in handy when you least expect it!

My daughter suffers from water in the ears so a swimmer's ear product is good to have on hand.

Aloa Vera for when the sun get to the spots sunscreen did not reach.

Over the years we have developed a travel kit that has all of the products that we need to travel. Including baby wipes (used by adults & children), hand sanitizers, disposable wash towels.

We've not stayed at AKL Villas yet -- but next Christmas:goodvibes. At our home resort, OKW, there is a corkscrew, Plenty of sugar/artificial sweetner, salt and pepper in packets. The coffee cups are just that, cups, not mugs, so if you don't mind pouring twice, or just using the refillable mugs, I wouldn't bring coffee cups. Of course I should let you know up front that I'm a minimalist when it comes to packing. Pool towels are provided at the pool. Paper towels and pot holder gloves are also provided. There are plenty of outlets, in excess of the BOCA codes. A plethora of cooking utensiles so scratch the kitchen scissors. Regular scissors, needle and thread for miscellaneous clothing/button repairs is recommended. We have found that jewelry screw driver/computer tool kit has come in handy many, many times. If your bringing your notebook computer or multiple notebooks a wireless travel router is convenient as the connection in the room requires an ethernet cable, which is also provided. No doubt I'm probably forgetting something. As others have said, don't forget money, pass vouchers if you purchased before arrival and, now that your DVC, you can leave the commando visit mentality at home. Oh, and before I forget --:welcome:HOME!!!:thumbsup2

:welcome: Home! I always pack at least 2 night lights (depending on the size of our accommodations).

Playing cards or other games for when you find yourselves relaxing in the room!

We have a very lengthy list of stuff in our 2 OL's, many items on your list above.

Some things we've got also include: (sorry if any of these duplicate what's on your list, but I've forgotten your list by now...)

Brita pitcher & filters
Crayons
Colored Pencils
Pad of Drawing paper (again for those times in the room vs. the parks - and now it's fun to go back through the pad and see who did what when and how their artwork skills compare "today" vs "back then")
Night lights
Vaseline
Scissors
Pop-up hamper (that way the kids have one, and we have the one provided to put dirty clothes in each day til we wash)
Pizza cutter (for when we make pizza in the room)
Favorite teabags
Cocoa packets
Microwave popcorn
various non-perishable food items

and a lot more. The possibilities are endless. Use your imagination to make your home away from home as home-like as you want!

I have a tap light in my Owner's Locker. I put it on the night stand next to the bed. If I have to get up when it's dark, I hit the tap light and it comes on. It's easier than fumbling around with a strange lamp. It gives off enough light to maneuver but isn't super bright. I got it at Walmart, but they also have them at the Dollar Store.

I printed off a list of what to do if someone gets sick on the trip - doctors who make house calls, clinics you can drive to, pharmacies near the Disney area, pharmacies which deliver to the hotel.

Someone else's idea, which I love - print off the instructions on how to override the hotel air conditioning systems.

The Owner's Locker website has a list of suggested items.

But it sounds like you may be getting a case of Owner's Locker Add-on-itis.

small flashlight.

Actually all we bring is toiletries, clothes, bathing suit, flipflops, flashlight, sunscreen, a book and a credit card.

All the rest we need we buy when we are there. No need to go crazy worrying about it.

Not going crazy with worry.............. just trying to plan what to get in advance - there is NO WAY I'm going shopping once I get there!!! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone else - I appreciate the replies - I'm sure other NEW owners will appreciate all of this as well!!

To override the AC controls in your room:

Some rooms have motion detectors. When there is no motion, the AC goes off. Some people do not like the room getting hot when they are gone or asleep. To fool the motion detector, they hang a balloon on the AC grid. However, no balloons are allowed at Animal Kingdom due to potential danger to the animals. Other people have attached shirts or other items to the ceiling fans to create constant movement.

You can ask the maintenance department to override the AC controls to make your room cooler. Some people have heard that the override gets re-set every night, however.

Someone posted this on the Dis:
On the thermostat push the power button and the down arrow (that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly there will be the letters "bp" where the temp numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. The maintenance man said that you might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours. We found that it stayed on bypass for a couple of days at a time. It was great to come back to a cold room or not wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat again.

Another person posted this:
The thermostat has two buttons on the left (ON/OFF and AUTO/FAN) and two buttons on the right (UP and DOWN). Press the ON/OFF and AUTO/FAN buttons together. The digital display will change to 'CA'. Then press the ON/OFF and DOWN button together. The digital display will change to 'OR" (or something similar). You have just deactivated the motion sensor. This will last for three days at which point you will have to repeat the process.

Another person posted this:
1. PRESS (AND KEEP PRESSED) THE F/C KEY
2. PRESS (AND RELEASE) THE OFF/AUTO KEY
3. PRESS (AND RELEASE) THE DISPLAY KEY.
4. RELEASE THE F/C KEY.
UPON SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THIS SEQUENCE, THE LCD WILL DISPLAY PAR (PARAMETER) AND THE PARAMETER NUMBER.
1. PRESS THE UP ARROW KEY AND SCROLL UNTIL # 6 APPEARS. (NEW MODELS # 24)
2. PRESS THE OFF/AUTO KEY
3. THE CURRENT LOW TEMPERATURE IS DISPLAYED.
4. PRESS THE DOWN ARROW KEY AND SCROLL UNTIL THE DESIRED ROOM
TEMPERATURE APPEARS
5. PRESS THE F/C KEY
