Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody has info re a hospital near Disneyland.

My little 2yr old grandson spent his 3rd night in hospital tonight with pneumonia and it got me thinking what we would do should something like this occur while away on our trip.

Thank you in advance for your input :thumbsup2

I hope your grandson gets better. Not fun to have pneumonia at that age. :flower3:

I thankfully haven't had any experience with hospitals in the US; but have visited their medical clinics a couple of times.

In the first instance, I would advise that you get a good travel insurance. I'm pretty sure you've already done this; but if you haven't, that would be the first thing I would do for the whole family. Doctors and hospitals are expensive in the US and a simple visit to a DR clinic has set up back by $175 in the past. We've also had a locum DR come to our hotel room and that was in the $350'ish mark. I know that hospitals charge a lot more than simple doctor visits.

Every time I or a family member have needed medical attention, we've asked someone either at the hotel or wherever we've been. It really depends on where you are. In my opinion, Disneyland has a GREAT first aid service (we've used it twice in the past) and they will be able to sort you out quickly and point you in the right direction.

Having said that, there should be plenty of information on-line (by doing a Google search) about hospitals and medical clinics in Orange County/Anaheim.

Oh, poor little thing! I hope he gets better quick.

I agree with PIO. I'm sure IF anything happens that will warrant a hospital visit, the hotel staff/CMs at Disneyland will be able to give you information about hospitals/medical clinics in the area and probably help to get you there too (call a taxi/give directions etc).

I think the biggest thing is to make sure that your insurance covers unlimited medical expenses and that you make sure they cover any pre-existing conditions (not sure if pnuemonia counts, but they usually want to know if anyone has been hospitalised in the 3 months before travelling). I can't remember when your trip was, but if you've already got insurance, they will probably need to know about your grandson being in hospital.

Travel insurance is an absolute must, but make sure it doesn't have a clause of anything over $2000 or something like that has to be approved beforehand - anything involving a hospital or ambulance will easily go past $2000 and approval is a pain. ACE require pre-approval.

We have had to use the 911 service while staying at a hotel near Disneyland a few years back. My daughter rolled off the bed (which was quite high) and needed medical attention.

The fire brigade turned up and assessed her before an ambulance arrived. She got an ambulance ride to the nearest medical facility.

As others have said just make sure you have travel insurance as the cost for that mishap was several thousand dollars which the insurance covered.
