We have friends who will be at WDW same time as us but at a different resort. If we want the kids to play at the resort pool together, can you get a guest pass for the pool? Specifically for the GF or SAB at BC.

Cheers!

The only way to know is to ask at the resorts. They may allow you to use the facilities at each other's resorts - even at Storm a long Bay - and they may not. I doesn't hurt to ask - but be prepared for the answer to be no.

No, there are no such things as "Guest Passes" for the resort pools. The signs at each pool entrance state that the pool is for the exclusive use of that resort's guests only.

I would see if one of the families in your party could switch resorts so that you are staying at the same place, or I highly recommend one of Disney's waterparks for swimming.....the kids will love it!:thumbsup2

You could all swim together at one of the water parks.

Ok am I to understand you cant swim at another pool if you are staying in a different resort? I ask because my sister is staying in Animal Kingdom Lodge and my sister and myself decided to join her for a few days, but my other sister is a florida resident so we got a better rate at all stars, I just assumed we could go over and swim with them, is this not the case?

You are correct...this is not the case. Below is the policy right from the "Mouse's" mouth you can say...

Resort Guests may only use the pool(s) located at the resort in which the Guest is staying. Pool hopping to other resorts is not allowed.

Exceptions:

Disney Vacation Club Members staying at a DVC Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disney's Vero Beach Resort are permitted to use other Disney Vacation Club and WDW Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool(s) at the Resort where they are staying) if those pools are not at capacity. If the pool they are visiting reaches capacity, they may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that Resort hotel. They must present their current "Key to the World" card with the "Disney Vacation Club Member" designation on it to use other Resort hotel pools.
Pool hopping is NOT available at any time at Stormalong Bay and the leisure pools at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and the pools at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's Contemporary Resort (Including Bay Lake Tower). There are no exceptions to this policy.
Pool hopping is restricted at all pools during certain periods of high occupancy. Members should contact DVC Member Services if they would like more information.
Guests staying at Disney's Port Orleans Resort may utilize the pools in both Riverside and French Quarter.
Guests staying at Disney's All-Star Resorts may utilize the all the pools at Sports, Music, and Movies.

No, not the case. You need to stay at the same resort to swim together. AKV is even off limits to DVC members not staying at AKV. They only have two pools and the newer one at Kidani Village is rather small. If your sister staying at AKL is a DVC member staying on points there, she can join you at your pool.

ok..thanks! I knew no pool hopping allowed just wondered if you could buy/obtain a pass from the front desk. I\ll have to see if I can talk them into switching resorts:)

One slight error in this. DVC members are permitted to hop to the CR pool per the DVC literature (Disney Files - most recent edition).

Please feel free to ask when you get to the resort. The DIS members have a different interest (wanting less crowded pools) than Disney itself (wanting happy guests). Many many people have reported being allow to do just what you've asked to do.

While the rule is no pool hopping, many people have that by asking at the resort they were allowed pool guests. It seems to depend on how busy the resort is at the time, and how crowded the pool area is. You can always just ask!

Well I called disney because of this thread. He said they are trying to discourage pool hopping from one resort to another, but in the case like ours where we have family at two different resorts he said it would not be a problem, to just go and talk to the resort upon arrival and let them know and they would allow us to come as guests, so I feel better

Just a warning: whoever you talked to has no authority to permit you to "pool hop." That is up to the resort where you plan to bring guests and will depend upon crowd levels at the time you ask. So, by all means, ask when you get there, but be prepared for the possibility that your request will be denied.

Yep. The lifeguards at the pool have the final say as to wether you are allowed to bring guests in or not. Which makes sense as they are the ones who have to keep an eye on everyone.

Yes, I agree. Just ask at the front desk of one of the resort pools where the family/friends are staying. There are rules about "pool hopping" but many can be overruled by a sympathetic manager or life guard. They understand that sometimes families stay at different resorts and like to spend the day together without dropping $40 each to go to a waterpark. If you are not going at a busy time when the pools are packed to the gills (like Christmas break & Spring Break) the answer will likely be "yes".

ITA! They also have the right to limit the number of resort guests in the pool at any time, or can close the pool due to bacteria levels or threat of lightning ie. they can kick everybody out of the pool. Whether or not they allow you to have guests at the pool could therefore change according to time of year, day of the week, or time of day. The front desk CM (whether at the call centre or the actual front desk) should be able to tell you whether there is a policy against pool hopping for any non-resort guests eg. SAB, but they can't give you permission to swim at the pool.

We have had guests at our pool at ASMu. At that time, we were told that any guest of ours was considered a guest of ASMu(this worked in WDW's favour in that case, since our guests decided to stay at that resort on their next trip). However, each resort may have a different policy regarding this issue, as well as use of cabanas, tables and lounge chairs.

We were also told that despite what was posted on the sign at the pool the lifeguards follow their own rule book, not the sign, which covers every possible topic more in depth.

ok -- ready for the popcorn popcorn::

It is kind of early in the day for popcorn. Does anyone have any pancakes or bacon instead?;)

:lmao:

To the OP, Back in 2007 when we were staying at the YC. We had friends join us for dinner. We were all dressed up and we wanted to show them SAB before dinner. We asked the CM at the gate if we could just show them the pool and he politely said no. With that, we said thank you and left. Personally, I would not have asked if they could join us for swimming but I figured since we were all dressed up it would be ok. Guess not.
