is there a disadvantage to book a refundable room on Priceline?

I can book a room at Royal Pacific on Priceline for $150 cheaper than on Loews site. (That could pay for two meals since it's just two of us.)

The room is refundable on PL, and paying in full isn't a problem, but will I be able to see the booking anywhere besides Priceline? So worried to get there and have them say we don't have your reservation. :rotfl:

I can't speak to whether you could view your reservation through the Loews/usf website. It is very possible you'll only be able to "see" your reservation through Priceline itself and not through Loews. But you should still get all the hotel perks (i.e. EPs, EE, water-taxis, etc.). So you would not be missing out on any of the onsite benefits.

As you inferred though, you might have to pay more than just a single night upfront and I don't know quickly Priceline will return your funds should you cancel. What is their cancellation policy? Do they keep any "fees" or anything else and how close to your stay can you cancel with a full refund? Its usually 5 days before your trip for a reservation through Loews and they won't charge you any fees.

You pay the whole thing up front and I think you have until 5 or so days prior to cancel. I’m most afraid of RPR not having the reservation. It happened to us this past December. We were at the Swan and we decided last minute to stay at RPR for 2 nights after. We booked through a third party site and I kept checking and I wasn’t seeing any confirmation from Loews. I finally called RPR and they had no ressie for us. I’m glad we didn’t drive over to find we were out of luck.

OP - can’t say I’ve ever seen a non-opaque refundable room on priceline or hotwire come in under what Loews is offering direct. Especially, if an AP rates rolls out. I’d book it in a flash.

make sure to verify that taxes are included in the rate you are comparing.

do you care to state what general ‘date’ you found this winner?;)

you should be able to contact PL or HW for the direct reservation number same as you can do with WDW Res (or at least you could in the past via last time I found a better rate with one of them).

Have only had a PL room not be available to us once & that was after a long delay heading to Seattle for a cruise. We didn’t arrive until after midnight & the room was given away to a walk up. Will say, PL offered a dog of a boutique hotel. I persisted and we were assigned the Fairmont & a full refund for our trouble :thumbsup2

The lower rate is because we are VIP members, which I really haven't booked much with them lately, so that's surprising. haha

I'm looking at the first week of June. It's only a $30 a night savings so not incredible or anything but something. :thumbsup2

Same, that ‘vip’ appears to stick with you on PL lol.

you might want to call Loews 800 number to confirm u do have res in place, they can confirm the PL info for you

I've seen too many horror stories of people finding out the day of arrival that they don't have a room bc Priceline/expedia/hotwire messed something up for it to be worth the savings to me.
Luckily I called and they do see the reservation.

We use Priceline quite often. I always make sure to call the hotel about a week after booking to verify the reservation. Have never had an issue.

On another note, I was able to grab Aventura for our July 17-27 trip for $158/night through Priceline a few days ago.

I had RPR give me their reservation number. When I put it into the Universal site it I know I have a reservation even if I can't modify it. lol
